Zero Day (2025)

Robert De Niro’s first major TV role sees him lead a political thriller with an extra edge. It would be enough to have De Niro as a popular ex-President who returns to save his country when it’s hit by a mysterious, near-devastating cyberattack - we soon learn that his family and colleagues all have their own agendas and all scent an opportunity, while the question of how the US was targeted and by whom takes some unravelling. But there’s something extra, revealed only at the end of episode one - with that in the mix, the great film actor has taken on a satisfyingly complex small-screen challenge.

Honestly, Zero Day is worth watching for the sheer fact that it stars Robert De Niro, and we should never, ever turn down the chance to see the master in action. This is a far cry from his villainous turn in Killers of the Flower Moon, though, with Zero Day offering a fun tilt on the thriller genre. If you enjoy shows like Mr. Robot, or even the recent Netflix movie, Carry-On, this is the perfect mini series to sink your teeth into and satisfy your cyber-crime cravings. Zero Day is a bitesized TV show which is so easy and enjoyable to digest.
