Synopsis
Two estranged sisters find ways to resist the German army’s occupation during World War II in France
Two estranged sisters, Vianne and Isabelle, lead completely different lives in France as the German army invades and occupies French territory. Vianne protects her young daughter from the violence, while hiding and housing Jewish children on her land. Meanwhile, Isabel joins the French Resistance in the city. Despite their differences both sisters are prepared to risk it all for what is right.

The film is based on Kristin Hannah’s novel of the same name, which tells the story of two estranged sisters resisting the German occupation in France during World War II. The film is directed by renowned French filmmaker and actress Melanie Laurent. She directs from a screenplay adapted by Dana Stevens (The Woman King).
The film stars real-life sisters Dakota and Elle Fanning, playing the two sisters featured in the film, Vianne and Isabelle.
