A monstrous tragedy with a human side
What I like about monsters is that they are a great way to tell character stories. You want to find the character inside of them, their tragedy and happiness - that's what I like to do with monsters. It just makes it more interesting if you treat them with the same sense of life that you would a live action character. You see it in our version of Harley Quinn and in James Gunn’s Creature Commandos. Jeff Goldblum’s The Fly is a wonderful movie that does it, too. It's the story of a guy who turns into a fly. There's a tragedy there and I gravitate to that sort of human side of monsters.
