Universal and Blumhouse kick off Black Phone franchise with supernatural horror sequel
The Black Phone 2 is an upcoming supernatural horror film produced by Universal and Blumhouse. The film is a direct sequel to 2021’s hit The Black Phone, which starred Ethan Hawke (Boyhood) as the deranged child killer known as “the Grabber”. The original was created by director Scott Derrickson based on Joe Hill’s 2004 short story of the same name. Derrickson will likely return as the sequel’s director and co-create the story with Hill.
Black Phone 2 sees many of the original cast return, although their roles are still not clear. Ethan Hawke will star in the Black Phone sequel. He is joined once more by Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora.
