In the midst of the Cold War in 1988, video game publisher Henk Rogers teams up with Russian computer engineer Alexey Pajitnov to bring the epoch-defining game of Tetris to the masses. But the partnership doesn’t come without risks, and the pair must do everything, from navigating legal battles with Nintendo to dodging the KGB, to get the game out there.

Tetris is a drama film based on the true story of how the game of Tetris first made it onto the world market. The film is produced by Apple Original Films, Marv Studios, and AI Film, and is directed by Scottish filmmaker John S. Baird (Filth). Noah Pink pens the script, and Alwin H. Kuchler is the cinematographer, while Lorne Balfe composes the film’s score. Mathhew Vaughn is a producer, along with Claudia Vaughn, Gillian Bernie, and Leonard Blavatnik.
Actor Taron Egerton — who first worked with Matthew Vaughn on the Kingsman movies — takes on the role of video game publisher Henk Rogers. Nikita Yefremov plays the original Tetris creator, Alexey Pajitnov. Toby Jones plays Robert Stein, and Roger Allam and Anthony Boyle play British businessmen brothers Robert and Kevin Maxwell. The president of Nintendo, Hiro Yamauchi, is played by Togo Igawa, and the former Nintendo president, Minoru Arakawa, is played by Ken Yamamura.
