The Continental is an action-thriller miniseries created by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons for Peacock, and it exclusively premiered on Amazon Prime Video in Canada. Coolidge and Ward serve as the series' showrunners and writers. It is a prequel series set in the John Wick universe that takes place before the events of the first film. The series consists of three 90-minute episodes, with two episodes directed by Albert Hughes, best known for directing Menace II Society and The Book of Eli. The second episode of the miniseries was directed by Charlotte Brändström, who has worked on Outlander. The production team behind the John Wick franchise including lead star Keanu Reeves, director Chad Stahelski and creator Derek Kolstad, return as producers to ensure continuity with the film's universe. They all played various roles in the series' development to ensure that it meets the franchise's standards.
In The Continental, Colin Woodell takes on the role of a younger version of Winston Scott, originally played by Ian McShane in the films. Mel Gibson joins the franchise in a new role as Cormac. When a situation arises in the John Wick universe, there is only one person to call for help and that is Uncle Charlie who is played by Peter Greene during his younger years. He starts his journey working alongside Winston. The Adjudicator is played by Katie McGrath with Jessica Allain, Jeremy Bobb, Ayomide Adegun, and Nhung Kate also featuring in the cast.
