Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprise their Walking Dead characters in New York City spin-off
The Walking Dead: Dead City is the post-apocalyptic horror-drama TV series on AMC created by Eli Jorné. This installment marks the fourth spin-off and fifth overall series within The Walking Dead franchise. It maintains continuity with the other TV shows and serves as the first official sequel to the original The Walking Dead series which itself was based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. Jorné has previously worked as a producer and writer on the original The Walking Dead series. He also served as executive producer on the sitcom, Wilfred. The Walking Dead: Dead City comprises six episodes released weekly basis from June 18 - July 23, 2023. Jorné and stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan executive produce the series along with Brian Bockrath and original showrunner for The Walking Dead seasons 4-8, Scott M. Gimple.
Lauren Cohan returns to portray the resilient Maggie Greene, former leader of the Hilltop community and Glenn's widow. Jeffrey Dean Morgan also returns as Negan, a reformed individual who once led the ruthless Saviors. Gaius Charles portrays Perlie Armstrong, a devoted family man driven by love and loyalty. Željko Ivanek plays The Croat while Jonathan Higginbotham is Tommaso. Mahina Napoleon portrays the role of Ginny, and Trey Santiago-Hudson stars as Jano. Charlie Solis portrays The Bartender, and Michael Anthony rounds out the main cast as Luther. Alex Borlo, David Chen, Randy Gonzalez, Alex Huynh, Aixa Kendrick, Karina Ortiz, Caleb Reese Paul, Eleanor Reissa and John Wu star in the series as well while Logan Kim portrays Maggie's son, Hershel. Kim replaces Kien Michael Spiller who originally played the character in The Walking Dead.
