Set in the Cold War era, Henk Rogers, a video game designer, discovers what he deems to be the ideal game: Tetris. The game is created by Russian computer engineer, Alexey Pajitnov, and Henk becomes determined to join forces with Alexey to bring Tetris to the masses. The duo unsurprisingly face difficulties in introducing the game to a global audience and may face severe diplomatic and financial consequences. As a result, they become entangled in a legal conflict that draws in influential figures including the president of Nintendo, Hiroshi Yamauchi, British media tycoon Robert Maxwell, numerous KGB agents, and even Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
