Players is a romcom film directed by Trish Sie for Netflix. Sie’s previous directing credits include Step Up All In and Pitch Perfect 3. Gina Rodriguez stars in the lead role and also produces the film along with Molly Breeskin. Other producers include Marc Platt, Ryan Christians and Ross Dinerstein. Marvel's Daredevil and Ozark writer Whit Anderson wrote the screenplay for Players.
Gina Rodriguez stars as the lead, Mack, in Players. She is best known for her five season run as the titular Jane the Virgin in The CW romantic dramedy series. Rodriguez’s love interest is played by Tom Ellis who is best known for his role as the Lord of Hell in his own respective TV series, Lucifer. The pair is joined by Damon Wayans Jr. who portrays Mack’s best friend, Adam. Wayans Jr. is best known for his role in the ABC sitcom, Happy Endings, as well as starring in the comedy Let's Be Cops. Joel Courtney, Liza Koshy and Augustus Prew round out the cast.
