Kenneth Branagh returns for a third outing as famed French detective alongside Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Dornan
A Haunting in Venice is a murder mystery thriller directed by Kenneth Branagh for 20th Century Studios. It is based on the Agatha Christie novel released in 1969 titled Hallowe'en Party and serves as the third film in Branagh's Hercule Poirot trilogy consisting of 2017's Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile from 2022. The creative partnership of Branagh and Michael Green returned to direct and write the film, respectively.
Green is a successful screenwriter having worked on previous titles including Logan and Blade Runner 2049. Branagh is an acclaimed actor and filmmaker best known for directing and starring in numerous Shakespeare adaptations along with winning an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Belfast which stars his Haunting in Venice co-star, Jamie Dornan. Hildur Guðnadóttir takes over the film's music composition duties, stepping in for Patrick Doyle, who composed the music for the two previous films.
Branagh leads the film as Detective Hercule Poirot with Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh starring as Joyce Reynolds. Kyle Allen portrays Maxime Gerard, Camille Cottin is Olga Seminoff, Tina Fey portrays Ariadne Oliver and Jude Hill takes on the role of Leopold Ferrier. The extended cast includes Jamie Dornan, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly and Riccardo Scamarcio.
