Sergei Nikolaevich Kravinoff, known as Kraven the Hunter, is a Russian immigrant with a relentless conviction to protect the natural world. As he crosses paths with his shape-shifting half brother Chameleon and evades assassination from evil forces, Kraven the Hunter’s origin story is deeply compelling and human. Kraven’s story also involves encounters with voodoo priestess and love interest Calypso.
Kraven the Hunter is an upcoming superhero film produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel. Although Kraven the Hunter is part of Marvel Comics, the movie rights for this villain are owned by Sony. The movie is therefore distributed by Sony Pictures and is the fourth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Academy Award nominated writer-director J.C Chandor (Margin Call) directs the film, from a screenplay by Matt Holloway, Richard Wenk and Art Marcum. The production took place on location in Glasgow, London and Iceland. Previously, directors Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) had discussed bringing the character of Kraven the Hunter into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass) stays as notorious villain Kraven the Hunter, an enemy of Spider-Man, in a multi-picture deal. Playing Kraven’s half-brother Chameleon is Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus). Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) plays Calypso, a voodoo priestess, alongside Alessandro Nivola (The Many Saints of Newark) as The Rhino.
