Synopsis
Storm and Cyclops return to continue the adventures of the incredible X-Men
Continuing the exploits of the mass of mutant-kind, X-Men ‘97 Season 1, picks up directly where X-Men: The Animated Series left off. Wise and revered, Professor Charles Xavier has been taken to the Shi’ar Empire for much-needed medical treatment. In his absence there is chaos. With open war between humans and mutants, many of the gifted superheroes have chosen Magneto as their leader. With Xavier gone, the master of magnetism faces up to Cyclops and the others as he tries to lead the X-Men with the blessing of his old friend. All the while the villain Mister Sinister emerges from the shadows.

What to know
The sequel to the original X-Men: Animated Series brings back familiar faces
X-Men ‘97 is a Marvel Studios animated television series. It is a sequel to X-Men: The Animated Series which aired between 1992 and 1997, from which the new series gets its name. The show runner and head writer for the first season is Beau DeMayo, who has had success with the animated spinoff The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf . The former show runners of the series Eric and Julia Lewald provide continuity by serving as consultants on the first ten-episodes.
The cast for Season 1 includes familiar and nostalgic voices. Cal Dodd once again voices the ferocious Wolverine, George Buza is Beast and Adrian Hough is returning as Nightcrawler. Alison Sealy-Smith voices the lightning quick Storm and Lenore Zann reprises the role of Rogue. The mighty Jean Grey is voiced by Catherine Disher who rounds out the returning cast all of whom are back after a 26 year absence. Christopher Britton stars as the villain Mister Sinister. X-Men ‘97 was released on Disney+ on March 20, 2024.
