Synopsis
Returning to the high-drama of the NBA in the 1980s, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson are back. With the 1980 NBA Championship secured, the series follows the team's attempt to defend their status as basketball's best. Off the court, the drama is equally high. Jerry West is an ambitious rising star in management and will do anything to succeed. Coaches, Pat Riley and Paul Westhead are looking over their shoulder at the Boston Celtics, who are a rising force in the early-80s NBA. Magic, Kareem, and Riley will have their work cut out for them if they are to turn a winning team into a winning dynasty.

Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty Season 2 is a sports drama series. The show is created by HBO Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros. Television. It is based on the book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s by Jeff Pearlman. The series is created by Max Borenstein and Jim Hecht. Nicholas Britell and Grammy Award-winning Robert Glasper handle the music for the series. Adam McKay continues as executive producer.
American actor, comedian, and writer, John C. Reilly plays the owner of the Lakers Jerry Buss. Quincy Isaiah portrays arguably the greatest point guard of all time, Magic Johnson. Solomon Hughes plays six-time NBA MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Award-winning actor Adrien Brody returns in the role of Pat Riley. Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty Season 2 was released on HBO Max on August 6th, 2023.
