Synopsis
What happens when two Hollywood actors purchase one of the oldest professional football clubs in Britain? Wrexham AFC was founded in 1864 and in the 2019/2020 season they finished in the lowest position in the club’s history. In November of 2020, Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney signalled their interest in purchasing the club that was struggling both on and off the pitch. Welcome to Wrexham is a docuseries that tells the story of the takeover. It shows Reynolds and McElhenney’s journey, the role of the Wrexham Supporter’s Trust while shining a light on the community around the club.
