Synopsis
The city of Kurouzu-cho is cursed by a supernatural force that manifests in the continued symbol of the spiral. Kirie Goshima and her boyfriend Shuichi Saito are high-school teenagers in the town. They witness how the spiral affects the people around them, both physically and psychologically, as the town itself is damned by an uncontrollable force. Obsessed with the vision of spiral shapes in everything, the clouds, the trees, skin and hair, the town goes slowly insane. Shuichi and Kirie are at the center of climactic events that question their very perception of reality.

Uzumaki Season 1 is a psychological horror anime mini-TV series. The first season is produced by Production I.G and Adult Swim. Based on the manga series written and illustrated by Junji Ito, Uzumaki Season 1 spans across four episodes.The series is directed by Hiroshi Nagahama. Composing the music is multi-instrumentalist Colin Stetson. Airing on Adult Swim’s Toonami, Uzumaki Season 1 is produced entirely in monochrome by Japanese animation studio Drive. It has voice acting roles for Uki Satake as Kirie Goshima and Shin’ichiro Miki as Shuichi Saito. Uzumaki was released on Crunchyroll on September 28, 2024.
