The extravagant and publicly scrutinized lives of the Royal Family are back for another season of drama in The Crown. This time around, Imelda Staunton takes on the role of Queen Elizabeth during the 1990s when the tabloids were filled with stories about the family and Princess Diana, in particular as her marriage to Princes Charles continues to deteriorate.
Diana is played by Elizabeth Debicki and Dominic West stars as Charles. Debicki is known for her roles in Tenet and The Night Manager. West is known for playing Noah Solloway in the drama series, The Affair.
Following the pattern of previous seasons, the fifth season of The Crown changes its cast to reflect the change in time. Set in the early to mid-90s, the Queen is played by Imelda Staunton, previously known for her roles in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Vera Drake. Prince Philip is played by Jonathan Pryce, a Welsh actor who rose to worldwide fame as the High Sparrow in Game of Thrones.
Prime Minister John Major is played by Johnny Lee Miller and his wife is played by Flora Montgomery. The tumultuous relationship between Prince Charles and Princess Diana will continue to play out in the season with Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki in the roles. Dominic West's son, Senat West portrays Prince William. The Crown Season 5 was released on Netflix on 9th November 2022.
