Synopsis
1923 is a generational family drama set in Montana in the United States of America. Season 1 follows the story of the Dutton family and their vast ranch land. Jacob and Cara Dutton must weather the political and economic storm to survive and thrive through the unrest. The Great Depression, present in Montana many years before other states in America, is but one of the travails the pair must face. Western Expansion and Prohibition both also contribute to a fair amount of problems. The couple has been married for many years and without any kids, the business is their sole focus. Through all of the turbulence in the 1920s, Cara and Jacob must keep each other close if they are to make it through.

1923 is a western family drama series created by multi-talented writer, producer, director, and actor, Taylor Sheridan. Sheridan, an inductee of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, writes and oversees 1923 as a bridge between prequel 1883 and sequel Yellowstone. The series is created for Paramount+ and is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios. Yellowstone and 1883 creative alumni are featured in 1923, giving a sense of continuity across the shows that tell the Dutton family story. John and Art Linson are executive producing the series with Corrin Hodgson and Ben Richardson working again as directors and in the cinematography department.
Sprinkling stardust across this Western inter-generational epic is the perfect pairing of Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. Ford is known for his suave charm and Mirren for her understated intensity. The duo are highly-acclaimed and respected figures in the industry with a slew of important awards between them. Mirren alone, has an Academy Award, four BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and a single Tony Award to her name. The pair portray Jacob and Cara Dutton, the powerful partnership at the center of this story. They are joined by Timothy Dalton, Darren Mann, Brandon Sklenar, and Marley Shleton amongst others. 1923 Season 1 was released on Paramount+ on 18th December 2022.

Rumors of another prequel to Yellowstone had been swirling for months before confirmation in February 2022. The show was originally titled 1932 and was set to sit between the shows 1883 and Yellowstone, telling the story of the intervening years. In May 2022, the casting news of Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford was announced and the following month, the show was renamed 1923. From September to October 2022, casting news trickled out with confirmation of Sebastian Roche, Jerome Flynn, Robert Patrick, and Brandon Sklenar amongst others. The format of the show was revisited in October 2022 and revealed to no longer be a limited series but a two-season affair. The December 18 release date was also confirmed. The first trailer was released in November 2022 putting the pair of Mirren and Ford front and center. 1923 Season 1 was released on 18th December 2022 on Paramount+.
