Victor Frankenstein is a young, brilliant scientist who is desperate for his work to make a difference. His passion for his scientific projects eclipses all else in his life and his desire to see the dead live again drives his own life. When he succeeds in bringing to life a creature from the dead, he must face the consequences of being a creator.
Frankenstein is an upcoming science fiction horror movie based on Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus written by Mary Shelley. The movie is written and directed by horror maestro Guillermo del Toro, a filmmaker best known for his movies Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, and Pinocchio. The movie features cinematography by Dan Laustsen. Frankenstein is produced by Double Dare You and is distributed by Netflix.
Frankenstein features Oscar Isaac in the lead role as Victor Frankenstein. He is joined by Jacob Elordi who stars as The Monster. The cast also includes Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Ralph Ineson, Christian Convery, and Charles Dance.
Music for the movie is being handled by award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat. Director Guillermo del Toro has worked with Desplat previously on The Shape of Water and Pinocchio.
Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein began filming in January 2024. Filming on the movie has taken place in Toronto, Canada, a common shooting location for del Toro. Previous live-action movies of his such as Nightmare Alley and The Shape of Water were also filmed in Toronto.
