M. Night Shyamalan is back with another apocalyptic supernatural thriller. Based on the 2018 novel, The Cabin at the End of the World, Shyamalan has adapted the book with his signature approach. Sitting somewhere between thriller and horror, the movie is one to watch from between your fingers.

7. Sisu

Sisu is one of the surprise packages of the year. From Finnish director Jelmari Helander, the movie is a John Wick-style epic action thriller set at the end of World War II featuring Nazi bad guys. The movie’s protagonist, played by Jorma Tommila, is a gold prospector in Lapland who, when facing down a threat from a Nazi platoon, proceeds to demonstrate how he earned the nickname “Immortal”. This low-budget indie action thriller has impressed critics and if you’re a fan of the genre is a must-watch.

6. Dunkirk

Dunkirk is widely regarded as one of the best war movies of all time. Directed by the legendary British filmmaker Christopher Nolan, Dunkirk tells one of the most harrowing tales from the First World War. With his latest movie, Oppenheimer out in theaters now, Dunkirk is a must-watch for fans of Nolan and anyone with an interest in WWI. With an epic score from Hans Zimmer and stand-out performances all-round, Dunkirk is an incredible piece of filmmaking.

Alongside Keanu Reeves is an incredible array of performers such as Lance Reddick, Laurence Fishburne, Bill Skarsgard, and Donnie Yen. John Wick: Chapter 4 is the highest-grossing film of the franchise and one of the best-reviewed of all four movies. For action fans, the movie is a must-watch.

4. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

The seventh installment of the Transformers franchise is a huge hit on streaming. Rise of the Beasts is directed by Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. who brings fresh energy to the franchise. This recently released stylish thriller boasts a stellar cast led by John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and the legendary entertainer Jamie Foxx. The movie features a governmental cloning conspiracy and a small role for the iconic Canadian actor Kiefer Sutherland. They Cloned Tyrone pays homage to Blaxploitation and pulpy sci-fi movies giving the satire a stylish aesthetic and off-beat humor.
