You can’t talk about Selena Gomez’s career without starting with Wizards of Waverly Place. The Disney Channel series ran for four seasons from 2007-2012, producing 106 episodes. In the show, Gomez plays Alex Russo, one of three magical siblings who are training to one day compete for complete control over their family’s powers. Throughout the series, the siblings use their powers in everyday life (even though they're not supposed to), while also trying to conceal their secret from everyone else. Wizards was a huge hit and attracted millions of viewers each episode. Like many Disney stars, shortly after the finale of her series Gomez wanted to promote herself as a more grown-up actress and starred in the raunchy, R-rated crime comedy Spring Breakers. The film series follows a human who accidentally checks into a hotel for monsters that’s owned and operated by Dracula and his family.
