Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend Season 1 is the first season of Apple TV+’s sports documentary series produced by SMUGGLER Entertainment. The series is executive produced by Tim Pastore, Patrick Milling Smith, Brian Carmody, Matt Renner, Jenna Millman, and Juan Camilo Cruz. Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend comes on the heels of Apple TV’s other successful docuseries about Messi’s start playing in the US for Inter Miami, Messi Meets America, which is also executive produced by Tim Pastore. Rise of a Legend is based on the life and career of Lionel Messi, from his start in Rosario, Argentina through his time in various European leagues and culminating in his 2022 victory at the FIFA World Cup.
The series features interviews with Messi himself, in addition to his teammates, family, coaches, competitors, football commentators, and others.
