Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend is a sports documentary series produced by SMUGGLER Entertainment for Apple TV+. The series is based on the life and career of one of the world’s best ever football champions, Lionel Messi. Born in Argentina in 1987, Messi quickly rose through the ranks to play in top European teams, with a career high coming in 2022 when he won the World Cup with the Argentinian national team. The series takes place over the course of four episodes. The series is executive produced by Tim Pastore, among others, who also produced the series Messi Meets America for Apple TV+ about Messi’s arrival in the US to play for Inter Miami.
The docuseries features intimate interviews with Messi himself, England footballer and host of the BBC’s Match Of The Day Gary Lineker, and Messi’s teammates, coaches, opponents, and football commentators.
