The King of Rock n’ Roll is still strutting his stuff on stage — all while acting as a slick secret agent for the US government.
Agent Elvis Season 1 is the first season in the animated dark comedy series produced by Sony Pictures Animation for Netflix. Agent Elvis marks the first adult animated project by Sony Pictures Animation. Elvis’s wife, Priscilla Presley, and American rock singer John Eddie create the series. Mike Arnold is the head writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Matthew McConaughey voices Elvis in the series. The character designs are by Robert Valley, and Agent Elvis’ costumes are designed by John Varvatos. The music and original compositions are created by Tyler Bates and Timothy Williams.
Although Agent Elvis is not based on a true story, back in 1970 the King did actually meet with President Nixon. In the meeting, Elvis pitched his idea to become a kind of covert operative for the government in the fight against communism and drugs — an irony that surely not lost on the series' creators.
McConaughey is joined by a list of prestigious actors voicing Agent Elvis characters, including Don Cheadle, Johnny Knoxville, Niecy Nash, Kaitlin Olson, and Tom Kenny. In addition, the extensive list of guest starts includes Jason Mantzoukas, Christina Hendricks, Kieran Culkin, Simon Pegg, Gary Cole, Tony Cavalero, Ed Helms, Asif Ali, Fred Armisen, Chris Elliot, Ego Nwodim, Craig Robinson, George Clinton, Tara Strong, and Priscilla Presley herself.
