  • How (and Where) to Watch the Wallace and Gromit Movies and TV Shows in Order

How (and Where) to Watch the Wallace and Gromit Movies and TV Shows in Order

Since Nick Park released his first Wallace and Gromit short film in 1989, audiences the world over have fallen in love with the now iconic claymation inventor and beagle duo. The films and television series take place in a stop-motion claymation world and revolve around a northern English inventor, Wallace, and his smart and faithful dog, Gromit. Wallace loves cheese and has a passion for inventing complex machines for mundane tasks. Gromit is often the more reasonable one, but as he’s non-verbal he mostly resorts to facial expressions to get his feelings across.

With a new Wallace and Gromit feature film, Vengeance Most Fowl, set to be released on December 25, 2024 on BBC iPlayer (and on January 3, 2025 on Netflix), what better time to rewatch all of the Wallace and Gromit movies and TV series in order? Check out the JustWatch guide below to find out where you can stream every Wallace and Gromit title!

Wallace and Gromit short films in order

Between 1989 and 2008, Nick Park created four short films produced by Aardman Animations that introduced the iconic duo and solidified their status as positive cultural ambassadors. In A Grand Day Out, Wallace and Gromit run out of cheese and decide to depart on a rocket to the moon for more — since the moon is made of cheese, of course!

In The Wrong Trousers, Wallace gifts Gromit a pair of self-invented techno-trousers for his birthday. Meanwhile, they take on a boarder at the house: a devious penguin called Feathers McGraw, who wants to trick Wallace into helping him steal a diamond. After three decades, Feathers McGraw is set to appear once again in a prominent role in the upcoming film Vengeance Most Fowl.

A Close Shave sees Wallace and Gromit go up against a sinister dog, Preston, who is illegally rustling sheep. The short introduces Shaun the Sheep, who went on to have his own spin-off series and films. In the final short, A Matter of Loaf and Death, Wallace and Gromit face off against a serial killer who’s been offing bakers around town.

Wallace and Gromit feature-length films in order

With the success of the shorts, in 2005 Wallace and Gromit got their first feature-length film in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. The film parodies classic monster movies and features the duo as pest control agents attempting to rid the town from a hoard of rabbits, including one giant one, before the annual Giant Vegetable Competition.

In 2024, Wallace and Gromit return with a new feature-length film, Vengeance Most Fowl. The film brings back the villain from The Wrong Trousers, Feathers McGaw, and audiences will find out how he is behind a sinister plot involving garden gnomes gone bad.

Wallace and Gromit TV series in order

There are two Wallace and Gromit television series. Cracking Contraptions is a 10-episode miniseries featuring episodes that run 1 to 3 minutes and show Wallace’s various inventions.

World of Invention is a mix of live-action and claymation and features real-life inventions and their creators from around the world, with cuts of Wallace and Gromit sketches to break up the episodes.

  • How (and Where) to Watch the Best Amy Adams Movies

How (and Where) to Watch the Best Amy Adams Movies

Amy Adams is one of the most talented and celebrated American actresses of the 21st century. The award-winning actress has starred in an array of movies across genres, including as a fairytale princess in the comedy-musical Enchanted and as an interpreter for new alien creatures in the sci-fi drama Arrival.

Check out some of Amy Adams’ best film performances below, and find out where you can watch all the movies on the list below!

    Arrival

Denis Villeneuve’s 2016 sci-fi drama Arrival features Amy Adams as a linguist brought in to find a way to communicate with aliens who arrived on a ship from outer space. Throughout the film, Adams brings an emotional and thought-provoking performance as Dr Louise Banks, as she uses her knowledge and empathy to develop a radical approach to communicating with beings beyond human comprehension.

    Nocturnal Animals

In this 2016 psychological-thriller from writer-director Tom Ford, Adams stars opposite Jake Gyllenhaal as his character’s estranged ex-wife, Susan. After Susan receives a copy of the book written by her ex-husband, Edward, as she reads she starts to understand the book and its dark nature mirror their relationship and the pain it left in its wake. Adams’ performance as a wealthy gallery owner, now neglected by her current husband, trapped within her own patterns is not one to miss.

    Enchanted

Moving on to lighter fare, Enchanted stars Adams as Giselle, a fairytale princess from the land of Andalasia. When her evil mother-in-law-to-be, in an attempt to stay in power, pushes her into the ‘real world’, Giselle finds herself lost in the live-action New York City trying to get back to Andalasia. In this 2007 rom-com musical, Adams stars opposite Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden — the first as a divorce lawyer who helps her navigate NYC, and the latter as her Prince Charming from Andalasia singing and dancing his way through the city trying to find her. In this film, and its 2022 followup Disenchanted, Adams shows off her comedic and vocal chops.

    Big Eyes

Amy Adams stars in director Tim Burton’s 2014 comedy-drama about the true story of American artist Margaret Keane, whose second husband, Walter Keane, took credit for her distinguished paintings featuring characters with large eyes. Adams’ performance captures Margeret’s journey from trusting wife to empowered artist, as she attempts to claim mastery over her own success.

    Nightbitch

This 2024 black comedy adapted by Marielle Heller from Rachel Yoder’s novel of the same name stars Adams as an artist turned stay-at-home mother caring for her young son. While she processes the change in the direction of her career, body, and relationships, she also starts to realise she may be turning into a dog. This film brings together Adams’ comedic prowess along with her ability to capture the complex emotional stages in a woman’s life.

    Junebug

This 2005 comedy-drama from director Phil Morrison features Amy Adams in the role that launched her career and gave her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She plays Ashley, the bubbly, young, pregnant sister to George. When George brings his new wife Madeleine to visit the family in South Carolina, Ashley and Madeleine strike up a friendship. In this film, Adams brings an infectious enthusiasm and raw emotion to her performance that makes Junebug for that reason alone worth watching.

    American Hustle

In this 2013 black comedy, Adams stars opposite Christian Bale as a con artist forced to participate in an elaborate FBI sting operation after getting caught. The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Renner, and was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture and a Best Actress nod for Adams. Her performance as Sydney sees her expertly playing a variety of roles as she goes undercover, and really brings home just how talented a performer she is.

    Disenchanted

This 2022 follow-up to the beloved 2007 film Enchanted sees Giselle, now married to Robert, some 10 years after the events of the first film. After having a baby, the couple decide to move to the suburban town Monroeville, which sees them confront the mundanity of everyday life. But when Giselle wishes for her life to become a fairy tale, the town transforms into Monrolasia, and in that land Giselle goes up against the domineering Malvina Monro while discovering she might be somewhat of a baddie herself.

    Doubt

John Patrick Shanley’s 2008 acclaimed drama Doubt saw Adams star opposite Meryl Streep in a performance nominated for Best Supporting Actress by the Academy. In this film Adams plays Sister James, a nun and confidant to Streep’s Sister Aloysius Beauvier who accuses Philip Seymour Hoffman as Father Brendan Flynn of abusing an altar boy at their parish. While Streep and Hoffman’s performances dominate the film, Adams more than holds her own as the meek history teacher trying to keep her faith in the face of doubt.

    The Woman in the Window

In this 2021 psychological-thriller from director Joe Wright, Adams stars as Anna, an agoraphobic child psychologist who, in the aftermath of a disintegrated marriage, retreats into her brownstone apartment and finds entertainment watching her neighbours from a safe distance. But when she witnesses one neighbour seemingly being murdered, she finds herself in a state where the lines between  reality and illusion are increasingly blurred.

  • The Best Ridley Scott Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

The Best Ridley Scott Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

You never know quite what sort of film you’re going to get next with director Ridley Scott, but you almost always know it’s going to be different to his previous one, and more often than not it’s going to be good. The British film-maker has been at the top of the business for nearly 50 years and now, at the incredible age of 86, he has a new film, Gladiator II, that could be one of the biggest of 2024. See below for our ranking of the best Ridley Scott films and where to stream them in the United Kingdom.

Ridley Scott came out of the gate quickly in 1977 with the critically acclaimed historical drama The Duellists, and he soon had a couple of masterpieces in the bag. His second film, Alien, is still unrivalled in the genre it helped to create: creeping, monster-driven suspense horror, set in the black void of space. If creating the classic character of Ripley weren’t enough, Scott’s next film Blade Runner, a sci-fi neo-noir, made Harrison Ford equally iconic as Rick Deckard.

Scott’s career is not without its fallow periods - he had one after Blade Runner, making a few relatively forgettable films before roaring back with Thelma & Louise, a feminist road movie that has grown to become a highly influential classic. His next big hit, probably his biggest, came nine years later in the form of Gladiator, a Roman epic with the action of a blockbuster and the tight, simple story of a claustrophobic character piece.

The great director only became more unpredictable from there, working again with Gladiator star Russell Crowe but remoulding him as a romantic lead in the surprisingly gentle A Good Year, before pivoting into tough mobster drama with American Gangster. The Alien franchise was revisited, to decent effect if not to the standard of the stellar original, in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant

By 2015 it seemed as if Scott’s career might finally be tailing off a little, but then he came back yet again with The Martian, starring Matt Damon as a man stranded on the Red Planet. Ambitious, witty and imaginative, it’s one of Scott’s finest blockbusters.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Scott’s most recent pictures is how talked-about they are: directors who keep going into their old age tend to churn out movies that are politely well received by their fans without making too much wider impact, but Scott still has a knack for cultural relevance. In 2021, after a long absence either side of the Covid pandemic, he delivered both the challenging period drama The Last Duel and the mischievous biopic House of Gucci, following them in 2023 with a wildly ambitious epic, Napoleon. You wouldn’t put it past him to come up with a couple more hits, and perhaps a couple more interesting duds, before he finally folds away his director’s chair.

Where to watch the best Ridley Scott movies streaming online

In the meantime there is a large back catalogue to enjoy - see below for our take on Ridley Scott’s films, ranked from best to worst, and how to stream them.

  • Every Gladiator Film In Order and How to Stream Them

Every Gladiator Film In Order and How to Stream Them

It’s one of the biggest gaps between a film and its sequel in history: Gladiator II arrives in cinemas a full 24 years after the original Gladiator, also directed by Ridley Scott, was released. That film met with huge commercial success, spawned an array of catchphrases (“At my signal, unleash hell”; “Are you not entertained?”) and, in 2001, won five Oscars. Now Scott and the Gladiator brand are back, with an audience primed for the follow-up movie having either seen the original at the time, or caught up with it via streaming. If you haven’t got up to speed yet, do so via our streaming guide, below.

Gladiator made a superstar of Australian actor Russell Crowe, who had already found success in LA Confidential and The Insider, but was put on a new level by his lead role as Maximus, a Roman general who falls foul of the emperor, Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) and is enslaved, with his family murdered. Swearing vengeance, Maximus takes the opportunity he is given when he is forced to become a gladiator, fighting to the death for the entertainment of Commodus and the citizens of Rome.

The new film takes advantage of the long lag between the two films by simply moving on by one generation. Paul Mescal is Lucius, the son of Maximus, played by child actor Spencer Treat Clark in the first film. Forced into slavery and then into combat when the corrupt and violent Empire invades his home in Numidia, Lucius fights in the presence of his mother, Lucilla, and the anti-corruption politician, Senator Gracchus. Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi reprise their roles, with new cast members including Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn and Denzel Washington.

Watching Gladiator and Gladiator II in a double bill is one of the more straightforward chronological binges you’ll ever complete. There is, however, one other thing you might want to stream if you want to be a real Gladiator completist: the 2000 film was based on Those About to Die, a 1958 book by Daniel P Mannix. Although the 2024 TV dramatisation of the same book is very different to Gladiator, it does have a subplot about a slave who becomes a famous arena warrior.

A third film, Gladiator III, is said to be in development - presumably Ridley Scott, who is now 86 years old, won’t wait another 24 years to make that. In case you’re wondering, films with an even bigger gap between the original and the sequel than Gladiator include The Hustler/The Color of Money (25 years), Coming to America/Coming 2 America (33 years) and Top Gun/Top Gun: Maverick (36 years), although none of those retained the original film’s director for the follow-up movie.

  • 10 Movies and TV Series Like Gladiator 2 (And Where to Stream Them)

10 Movies and TV Series Like Gladiator 2 (And Where to Stream Them)

Audiences eagerly returned to ancient Rome for the highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott’s 2000 masterpiece Gladiator with Gladiator II. The film stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, a man with claims to power in Rome who was sent to live far away from the city. He is dragged back into that polemic world when his village is destroyed by an invading Roman general, Marcus Acacius, played by Pedro Pascal. Intent on seeking both justice and revenge, Lucius enters the gladiatorial arena.

After watching both the original Gladiator and Gladiator II, you might not want to leave those epic historical worlds behind just yet. So, check out these 10 movies and TV series similar to Gladiator 2 and find out where you can stream them below!

    Kingdom of Heaven

After the success of Gladiator in 2000, director Ridley Scott returned to make another epic historical film in 2005 with Kingdom of Heaven, starring Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Jeremy Irons, and Liam Neeson. It follows the story of a humble blacksmith, Barian (Bloom), who is enlisted to fight in the Crusades in the Holy Land and, after a perilous journey there, finds himself confronted with the brutal corruption and a struggle for power that sees him become one of the few defenders of the city of Jerusalem.

If you’re looking for a film with sweeping battles, epic historical drama, and political intrigue mixed with personal and moral struggles, look no further than Kingdom of Heaven. In addition, you can count on Ridley Scott’s signature epic style to take the emotional and historical stakes to the next level.

    The Eagle

The Eagle is a 2011 epic historical drama directed by Kevin Macdonald, and stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell and Donald Sutherland. Tatum plays Marcus Flavius Aquila, the son of a senior centurion who disappeared along with his entire legion in Britain and goes there as a centurion intent on finding out what happened and restoring the lost legion’s eagle standard.

Like Gladiator II, The Eagle features epic battles mixed with personal stories of protagonists in the time of ancient Rome seeking to restore glory to their city or legion.

    Those About to Die

This 2024 Amazon series explores the multifaceted layers of ancient Rome in 79 AD, when the city’s corrupt politicians struggle for power and delight in increasingly violent blood sport spectacles like chariot racing and gladiatorial games. The sports attract those looking for success, from horse breeders, gladiators and chariot racers to gamblers as they all converge on Rome trying to rise above the rest.

If you want a gritty look at the lives of many individuals trying to survive in ancient Rome at the time of the gladiators, Those About to Die provides a new perspective for fans of Gladiator II.

    Barbarians

Barbarians is a German Netflix series from 2020 that lasted two seasons. It takes place during the Roman Empire when Roman forces occupied much of what was then called Germania. The story includes recounts of the rebellions led by the so-called ‘barbarian’ tribes as they resisted Roman rule.

Historians and archaeologists have praised Barbarians for its accurate depiction of life at the time, from the structure of the villages and plans for battle to its costume design. The series also gives more insight into the effect of the Roman Empire on the rest of Europe, which is sure to interest the more history-minded fans of Gladiator II.

    Rome

This sprawling two season HBO series ran from 2005 to 2007 and depicts the Roman Empire like never before. The series primarily focused on the lives of the rich and powerful, along with two centurions, as they navigate the complex political environment leading up to Julius Caesar’s rise to power and subsequent assassination, before leaning into the power struggle between Octavian and Mark Anthony.

While Rome is very much a product of early 2000s HBO, the series’ dramatic depiction of so many important events in the history of Rome makes it prime viewing for Gladiator II fans looking for something to watch that takes place in ancient Rome itself.

    Braveheart

Although Braveheart takes place far from the setting of ancient Rome, it shares a lot thematically with Gladiator II. Both films feature strong protagonists intent on protecting or avenging their loved ones against far more powerful forces. Braveheart stars Mel Gibson as William Wallace, the leader of the Scottish rebellion against the English, destabilising the tyrannical rule of King Edward I.

    I, Claudius

This iconic BBC miniseries from 1976 remains one of the best fictional accounts of the early days of the Roman Empire up until the death of Emperor Claudius. Rather than fixate on the epic battles and blood sport spectacles usual for films and series about ancient Rome, I, Claudius focuses on the interpersonal drama taking place within the elite circles of rulers, politicians, and their spouses as they backstab and seduce each other to gain a hold on power.

If you’re keen to see a series similar to Gladiator II that features far less violence and far more political and interpersonal drama, check out this iconic British series.

    The Last of the Mohicans

This 1995 film stars Daniel Day-Lewis as a half-white, half-Native American member of the dwindling Mohican tribe who live peacefully alongside British colonists. But when two daughters of a British colonel are abducted, the tribe become involved in the bloody French and Indian War. Like in Gladiator II, the warrior protagonists are reluctantly dragged into gruesome conflicts created by those in power and find themselves in a struggle for survival and peace.

    The Northman

This bloody historical action film from 2022 is directed by Robert Eggers and stars Alexander Skarsgård as Amleth, a viking prince who sets out on a quest to avenge the death of his father. Like Gladiator II, themes of vengeance and justice lie at the heart of The Northman, and while it takes place in Scandinavia rather than ancient Rome, the epic battles and political intrigue make it great viewing for anyone who was entertained by Gladiator II.

    Spartacus

This classic historical epic from 1960 was directed by iconic director Stanley Kubrick and stars Kirk Douglas as the legendary slave turned rebellion leader Spartacus. The story follows Spartacus as he is plucked from a mining pit and brought to Rome to become a gladiator. While there, he refuses to cooperate with some of the most heinous requests from Roman elites and winds up sparking a gladiator rebellion that morphs into an all-out slave rebellion against the Roman Republic.

Like Gladiator II, Spartacus focuses on an individual who goes against the grain in ancient Rome’s gladiatorial ring — bringing the battle to the elites who thought the blood sport was only for their entertainment.

  • 11 Dystopian TV Series Like Silo (And Where to Stream Them)

11 Dystopian TV Series Like Silo (And Where to Stream Them)

When Silo first debuted in 2023 on Apple TV+, no one could have predicted its success in becoming one of the most popular series of the year. Based on author Hugh Howey’s book trilogy Wool, the series takes place in a dystopian reality in which humanity is forced to live in silos after the outside environment becomes uninhabitable. The story focuses on Juliette Nichols, an engineer who becomes entangled in a plot that brings her to start questioning the reality and regime under which they live.

The first episode of Silo Season 2 was released on November 15, 2024, and with episodes airing weekly you may be craving a little more dystopian drama on your screens. So, make sure to check out these 11 TV series like Silo, and find out where you can stream them by scrolling through the list below!

    Snowpiercer

The series is set in a dystopian future 2026 in which the planet has frozen over due to climate change, leaving the human survivors seeking refuge aboard a massive thousand-and-one-car train known as Snowpiercer. The humans are divided into strict classes by compartment, and they are all held under the watchful eye of the mysterious Wilford at the helm of the train.

Snowpiercer is similar to Silo in its exploration of a dystopian future in which humans live in closed quarters surrounded by an uninhabitable world. It also has the criminal elements of Silo, in which a detective investigates a series of murders in the first season against the backdrop of class warfare about to boil over.

    Ascension

This one-season series from 2014 takes place some 51 years into a space mission after a fictional President John F Kennedy — fearing the destruction of Earth during the Cold War — sends a ship to colonise a planet orbiting Proxima Centauri.  While on their way, a murder happens aboard the ship that sets off a series of events that get the team members questioning the true nature of their mission.

Like Silo, Ascension takes place in a closed setting with no access to the outside world. The series also starts out with a murder that causes those aboard the ship to start questioning what they are really doing there, and if their reality is in fact what they believe it to be.

    Severance

In this dystopian sci-fi series from 2022, employees of Lumon Industries agree to “sever” their consciousness in a controversial procedure that makes them forget everything when they leave work and vice versa — dividing them into ‘Innie’ (at work) and ‘Outie’ (outside of work) personalities. But while one employee, Mark Scout, navigates an increasingly strange life at work, he discovers that his two lives in fact overlap.

Like Silo, Severance deals with a seemingly tightly controlled organisation that begins to show its weaknesses as time goes on. Both series feature a person in the middle whose suspicions about what is really going on start to grow, kicking off a series of revelatory escalating events.

    Foundation

In a distant dystopian future, the galaxy is ruled by a dynasty of clones of the emperor Cleon. Mathematician Hari Seldon and his protogee Gaal present the conclusion found through his theory of ‘psychohistory’ that the current empire will fail unless human knowledge and history is somehow preserved. The regime grudgingly allows him to establish a way to store this knowledge in a place called the Foundation, while keeping their suspicions about the true nature of his activities.

While Foundation is not quite as spatially constricted as Silo, the political intrigue and the slow falling apart of a despotic ruling system are themes that tie the two series closely together.

    Andor

This Star Wars story takes place in a galaxy far, far away some five years before the events of Rogue One and A New Hope. The series focuses on Cassian Andor as he goes from a thief to becoming a top spy for the Rebel Alliance. Like Silo, the series takes place in a dystopian setting where under the surface a great unrest is brewing that one main character slowly uncovers as time goes on.

    From

In the close confines of a small town in the United States, those who enter cannot leave due to the evil creatures who lurk in the surrounding woods and terrify the residents at night. The town’s sheriff and other residents spend their time trying to survive while desperately plotting a way to escape.

Like Silo, From takes place within the confines of a small space with limited resources. As time goes on, the residents start to discover the larger plot lurking under the surface.

    The Last of Us

Some twenty years after the outbreak of a deadly fungal pandemic, the world is plunged into a desperate struggle for survival. But when a young girl, Ellie, is discovered who appears to be immune to the disease, a smuggler named Joel is tasked with bringing her safely across the post-apocalyptic wasteland the US has become so she can help scientists develop a vaccine.

Like Silo, the Last of Us takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting where the surrounding environment is not only hostile but downright dangerous.

    The Expanse

In a distant future, humans have successfully expanded beyond Earth to colonise the solar system. However, Earth’s political struggles continue to plague humanity — this time on a galaxy-wide scale. Caught in the mix in a key but mysterious role is a ship whose crew slowly uncover why they play such an important role in who wins in the struggle for power.

Like Silo, The Expanse takes place in closed quarters and deals with political intrigue and conspiracies that are slowly uncovered throughout the seasons.

    The Peripheral

This series produced by the creators of Westworld takes place in a future in which a brother and sister, Burton and Flynne, are hired to test a new virtual reality game. While in the game, Flynne discovers that the VR has become blurred with actual reality and uncovers a secret that puts both her and her entire family at risk.

Much of The Peripheral takes place in the confines of a VR game and parallels Silo in the way the main characters uncover a much larger plot set up by the creators that has far reaching implications for them and everyone else.

    Station Eleven

Station Eleven takes place some twenty years after a deadly flu pandemic wipes out much of humanity, leaving the survivors to struggle to create a new order while holding on to what they lost. The series follows a group of survivors as they make their way through the post-apocalyptic world and try to rebuild a new society, even as a cult leader with sinister intentions tries to gain the upper hand.

Like Silo, Station Eleven takes place in a post-apocalyptic reality in which the survivors try to hold on to their humanity while establishing a new society.

    Counterpart

Howard Silke is a quiet, low-level bureaucrat working for the Office of Interchange in Berlin, Germany. His life is turned upside down when a secret is revealed to him: that in 1987 a portal to a parallel world was opened up due to an East German experiment, and that the connection between the two worlds is hidden in the basement of the Office of Interchange. Howard realises that he also has a counterpart in the parallel world — a savvy agent who is part of a larger Cold War operation raging between the two worlds.

Like Silo, at Counterpart’s core is a conspiracy that threatens to destroy the world as we know it. The intrigue and mystery surrounding the plot, as well as the slow unfurling of the extent of the implications make for compelling viewing for any fan of Silo.

  • How (and Where) to Watch the Paranormal Activity Movies in Order

How (and Where) to Watch the Paranormal Activity Movies in Order

The Paranormal Activity movies brought a whole new level of terror to horror fans with their found-footage style. Although the shaky-camera documentary style of horror had been introduced to great effect with the Blair Witch project, Paranormal Activity’s use of seemingly banal footage from webcams and home security systems brought the terror inside your house.

With a total of seven instalments released between 2007 and 2021, there’s plenty of Paranormal Activity content to watch and rewatch. Check out the full JustWatch guide to how (and where) to watch all the Paranormal Activity movies in order below!

How to watch the Paranormal Activity movies in order of release

The seven Paranormal Activity were released between 2007 and 2021, and feature both new stories, prequels, and continuations of the original story. Here’s how to watch all the Paranormal Activity movies in order of release:

How to watch the Paranormal Activity movies in chronological order

The chronological order of the Paranormal Activity movies is different to their order of release. In order to get started, you’ll need to begin with Paranormal Activity 3, which takes place in 1988 and goes back to Kristi and Katie’s childhood and their first exposure to the demon known as “Toby”.

Paranormal Activity 2 follows Kristi’s story when she is an adult with a family, just after she gives birth to Hunter. At points, the film coincides with Paranormal Activity, which is the original and follows the story of Katie (Kristi’s sister) and her husband Micah, after they move into a new home and begin to experience increasingly alarming supernatural activity.

Paranormal Activity 4 takes place in 2011 in the suburbs, where Katie has moved across the street from the Nelson family. The Nelsons also begin to experience supernatural occurrences perpetrated by Toby. The fifth instalment, The Marked Ones, takes place in 2012 and follows the story of Jesse Arista, who begins to dig into the past after being marked by a demonic cult. This film ties into both Paranormal Activity 3 and the original, and introduced the concept of time travel to the franchise.

The Ghost Dimension takes place in 2013 and sees the Fleeges family move into a house built on top of Kristi and Katie’s old childhood home. Finally, Next of Kin takes place in 2021 and follows the story of Margot, Chris, and Dale, who go to stay with an Amish community so that Margot can find out more about her past. While there, they come into contact with a new demon: Asmodeus.

How (and Where) to Watch the Venom Movies in Order

Sony Pictures’ Venom films starring Tom Hardy have been beloved by fans of the Marvel Comics antihero since the first instalment was released in 2018. The trilogy of films follow the story of Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist who becomes fused with the alien symbiote Venom. The two share Eddie’s body in a sort of Jekyll and Hyde-style relationship, and take turns at being in charge, depending on the situation.

With three Venom films available to watch, and a whole Spider-Verse to connect them to, make sure you find out how (and where) to watch all the Venom films in order below!

How to watch the Venom movies in order of release, and chronological order

The Venom movies are rather simple to watch in order. The order of release is basically the same as the chronological order. Apart from a flashback scene in Let There Be Carnage, the films go sequentially from 2018’s Venom to 2024’s The Last Dance:

In addition, there is a post-credits scene featuring Venom at the end of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which fits in right before The Last Dance. If you want a full overview of the Spider-Verse and how Venom ties into it, check out our complete guide here!

  • How (and Where) to Watch the Omen Franchise in Order

How (and Where) to Watch the Omen Franchise in Order

The Omen franchise brought fears of the antichrist to a whole new level in 1976, and continues its reign of terror to today. Richard Donner’s first instalment starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick follows the story of a couple whose son Damien turns out to be the son of the devil himself. The film is now revered as an iconic classic of the horror genre, and went on to spawn another six instalments, including one remake and a television series.

Find out how (and where) to watch the Omen franchise in order, and find out how to stream all titles below!

How to watch the Omen franchise in order of release

The first Omen film was released in 1976 and follows the terrifying story of Robert and Katherine Thorn. After mysterious and violent events begin to take place on their estate, they come to realise their young son Damien is in fact the antichrist. The 1978 sequel follows Damien in his teenage years, and The Final Conflict sees him reach adulthood and the full potential of his evil.

Omen IV: The Awakening is a television movie that takes up a new story in the Omen universe, focusing on a young girl who turns out to be Damien’s daughter. However, the film was critically panned so no sequels were made.

In 2006, the franchise was reborn with a remake of the original film which ushered in a new generation of fans. In 2016, a television series called Damien that lasted one season aired that focused again on Damien. The series takes place in the Omen universe on a different timeline after the first film. In this timeline, Damien does not know his true identity until he is 30 years old and working as a war photographer.

In 2024, a prequel film was released called The First Omen, which explores the events leading up to Damien’s birth.

How to watch the Omen franchise in chronological order

If you want to watch the Omen franchise in order, it’s best to start with the 2024 prequel film, The First Omen, which tells the story of how Damien came into being. From there, the story leads to the original The Omen, which can also be combined or exchanged with the 2006 remake. The next two films — Omen II and III — follow the release order.

Omen IV follows the story of Damien’s young daughter who inherits his powers, but does not otherwise share much in common with the previous films. Finally, the 2016 Damien series can be watched either alone or after the first Omen film due to the fact that it takes place on a different timeline. It is meant to be a direct sequel to The Omen, but takes place years later when Damien turns 30 and comes to finally realise he is the antichrist.

  • 11 Horror Movies Like Terrifier (And Where to Stream Them)

11 Horror Movies Like Terrifier (And Where to Stream Them)

Damien Leone’s Terrifier movies have been unapologetically splashing fans with buckets of blood since the first instalment arrived on screens in 2016. With so many modern slasher horrors delving into the psychological complexities of their killers, it was almost refreshing for fans to see a villain whose only motivation to kill is pure evil delight — precisely the chaotic energy that Art the Clown brings while terrorising his victims.

But with only three current Terrifier instalments out, you might be hankering for some other slasher films like Terrifier to watch. Whether you’re looking for another charismatic clown killer, more creepy holiday-themed thrills, or just a bloody disgusting gorefest, there’s something for you on the list below. Check out these 11 slasher movies like Terrifier, and find out where to stream them below!

    All Hallows’ Eve

All Hallows’ Eve was written and directed by Terrifer creator Damien Leone, and marks the first time Art the Clown appears on screen. The film follows the gory story of a babysitter and two kids who discover an unmarked VHS tape on Halloween. The tape contains three different stories that graphically show Art the Clown creatively killing his victims — before the story turns on them.

If you’re looking for a film that brings the same comedic gore, and even features the same villain as Terrifier, All Hallows’ Eve is as close as it gets. You might also want to check out its sequel, All Hallows’ Eve 2, although it takes a different approach and features eight stories from different directors found on another VHS tape, and sees other bloodthirsty villains take centre stage, rather than Art the Clown.

    Thanksgiving

Iconic horror director Eli Roth finally released Thanksgiving in 2023, after first making a fake trailer for the film that was featured in Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 film Grindhouse. The film takes place in a small town in Massachusetts where inhabitants are terrorised by a killer in a John Carver mask around the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving has that same scary mixture as Terrifier of festive holiday cheer mixed with bloody murder. Creative kills abound, and Roth certainly doesn’t shy away from a Thanksgiving-themed slice and dice.

    Maniac

This 2012 remake of the 1980s original Maniac stars Elijah Wood and Nora Arnezeder as a serial killer who collects the scalps of his victims for his mannequin collection and an unwitting photographer with whom he falls in love, respectively. Although Maniac is much more serious in tone than the Terrifier films, if you’re looking for gore you’ll find plenty of it here.

    The Evil Dead

The Evil Dead is both Sam Raimi’s directorial debut and the first instalment in his iconic trilogy of supernatural horror films. The film centres around Ash Williams and his group of friends who head to a cabin in the woods for a fun night away. But what starts as harmless fun reading from an old book they find becomes a night of terror as they unwittingly awaken the dead and must do anything to not become one of them. If you love the over the top madness of the Terrifier movies, make sure to (re)watch The Evil Dead.

    Dead Alive / Braindead

Before the Lord of the Rings films, New Zealand director Peter Jackson made some fantastic comedic horror films. Dead Alive (otherwise known as Braindead) is an over the top feature about a young man whose mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey, subsequently dies and comes back in zombified form, going on a seemingly unstoppable bloody rampage. While Dead Alive has a far more 1980s campy vibe than Terrifier, the entertainment factor and mix of comedy and horror should not be missed by any Terrifier fan.

    Stitches

Stitches is a comedy-slasher featuring another deranged clown killer. This film by Conor McMahon sees a cynical loser clown killed while entertaining at a birthday party brought back to life by a clown cult because “a clown who doesn't finish his party act can never rest.” The reanimated Stitches proceeds to go out for bloody, quippy revenge with creative kills to rival those of Art the Clown.

    Hatchet

Adam Green’s 2006 film Hatchet takes us down to New Orleans, where a group of tourists on a swamp tour become stranded overnight in the bayou. Unbeknownst to them, they are now in the territory of a killer who will take down anyone who enters the swamp. While the villain might be less of a diva than Art, the film itself is full of bloody kills and over the top chase scenes.

    The Hills Run Red

This deranged slasher film from 2009 sees a group of teenagers take to the woods in order to recover a lost horror film called The Hills Run Red in a cabin. However, what starts as a thrilling adventure quickly turns into a nightmare when the killer from the film, a horribly mutilated man known as Babyface, proceeds to stalk and attack them. True to its title, The Hills Run Red spills buckets of blood, and the killer’s mask is truly something terrible to behold.

    House of 1000 Corpses

House of 1000 Corpses is Rob Zombie’s first feature film and follows a group of teenagers who find themselves captured on Halloween by a deranged family who own the roadside attraction The Museum of Monsters and Madmen. This gory film features enough blood to rival any Terrifier movie, and the clownish costumes alone no doubt inspired Art the Clown’s getup.

    Haunt

This 2019 horror film written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods sees a group of friends on Halloween night enter a haunted house that turns out to be run by murderous employees. As they make their way through the house, the danger becomes all too real, and they must find a way to get to safety before the deranged clowns, zombies, and witches tear them apart.

    Silent Night

This 2012 slasher takes us back to the festive Christmas theme mixed with bloody murder. Set in a small town in Midwest America, the town’s police force are on the hunt for a maniac dressed in a Santa Claus costume who is killing those he deems ‘naughty’. Like the Terrifier films, Silent Night brings the comedy, over the top gore, and creative kills that would thrill any slasher fan.

  • How (and Where) to Watch American Horror Story in Order

How (and Where) to Watch American Horror Story in Order

Since 2011, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s chilling anthology series American Horror Story has been bringing gruesome stories to life on the small screen. Known for its glossy aesthetics, over the top storytelling, illustrious cast members, and delicate weaving of modern issues with classic horror tropes, American Horror Story certainly has made its mark on the horror genre.

With 12 seasons and counting available to stream, along with a companion spinoff series in American Horror Stories, there’s plenty of American Horror content to watch. Check out the JustWatch guide to how to watch every season of American Horror Story in order below!

How to watch American Horror Story in order of release

American Horror Story has released a new season (almost) every year since 2011. Because it is an anthology series, each season is (mostly) its own unique story and can therefore be watched in order of release without any major continuity issues.

Some of the actors who reappear throughout the seasons in different (or the same) roles include Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lang, Lily Rabe, Kathy Bates, and others. In addition to Ryan Murphy’s close collaborators who have faithfully appeared across multiple seasons, each season features top celebrity guest stars such as Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks, Naomi Campbell, Trixie Mattel, and Kim Kardashian.

How to watch American Horror Story in chronological order

Although American Horror Story is an anthology series, each season does take place in a specific epoch and some stories carry references or ramifications for future stories along the timeline. It would therefore be quite a good idea to watch the American Horror Story seasons in chronological order, if you want to pick up on all the references and crossovers. In the list below, the years in parenthesis refer to the year in which the season is set.

Freak Show takes place in the 1950s in a carnival, while Asylum unfolds in a mental institution at Briarcliff Manor in the 1960s. NYC takes place in the 1980s and follows a string of murders and the outbreak of a deadly virus in New York City. 1984 takes place in the titular year and pays homage to the slasher genre popularised in the ‘80s, and is set in a classic summer camp.

Murder House, the first season of AHS, follows the story of the Harmon family in 2011 as they attempt to survive moving into a haunted house. While Coven is set in 2013, it also features flashbacks to other eras as it follows the story of the descendents of witches persecuted during the Salem Witch Trials.

Roanoke takes place in 2014 and pays homage to the supernatural horror genre and is filmed in a part documentary, part found-footage style. Hotel takes place in 2015 and follows the strange happenings at the Hotel Cortez. This season also features callbacks to Murder House and Coven.

Cult takes place in 2017 in the aftermath of Trump’s presidential win in the US, and focuses on a cult terrorising the Michigan suburb Brookfield Heights. The season also features connections to Freak Show. Apocalypse takes place in 2020 and is strongly connected to Coven, Murder House, and Hotel, featuring several overlapping characters and stories converging and continuing together.

Double feature takes place in 2021 and features two separate stories, one that focuses on a coastal town in Massachusetts and another that follows a group of campers who find themselves caught in the middle of an alien conspiracy plot.

Finally, Delicate takes place in 2023/2024 and is based on Danielle Valentine's novel Delicate Condition, which explores themes of pregnancy, motherhood, murder, and birth.

The Friday the 13th films comprise one of the most iconic horror franchises to come out of the 1980s. With twelve movies and a masked, silent, unkillable villain in Jason Voorhees, the Friday the 13th films continue to stalk screens big and small across the globe. Check out the JustWatch guide to how to watch the Friday the 13th movies in order, and find out where you can stream them all below!

How to watch the Friday the 13th movies in order of release

The 1980s were the most prolific time for the Friday the 13th franchise. The first eight instalments were released between 1980 and 1989 and introduced audiences to a new iconic slasher in Jason Voorhees. Although most of the films take place around the infamous Crystal Lake, they later deviate to also see him hack his way through Manhattan and even outer space in Jason X. Check out the full list of the Friday the 13th movies in order of release:

Freddy vs. Jason sees Jason go up against another notorious ‘80s cinematic slasher, Freddy Krueger of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, in a crossover production. And in 2009, a Friday the 13th remake of sorts was released that gives Jason more backstory and provides a new take on the first four films.

How to watch the Friday the 13th movies in chronological order

Watching the Friday the 13th movies in chronological order is nearly identical to watching them in release order. The first four films remain the same, however the fifth is the 2009 remake that gives a new take on the first instalments.

From there, the list continues in release order, going through Jason’s new beginning, continued resurrection(s), and killing spree in Manhattan. The penultimate film on this list is 2003’s Freddy vs Jason, which chronologically takes place after Jason Goes to Hell, while the final instalment is 2002’s Jason X, which takes place some 400 years later where Jason is resurrected in space. Yes, in space.

  • Every V/H/S film, in order - and How to Stream Them

Every V/H/S film, in order - and How to Stream Them

The V/H/S franchise first hit cinema screens in 2012 with the original V/H/S, an anthology of stand-alone short horror films all on the theme of “found footage” - characters either stumble across video tape or film it themselves, with bloody consequences. Since then it’s grown into one of modern horror’s most prolific franchises, with 2024’s V/H/S/Beyond the latest addition. Find out how to stream every V/H/S movie in the right order with our streaming guide, below.

You have a choice here: release order or in story/setting order? Every movie is pretty much independent of the others, so you could keep it simple and go with the order the films originally came out, but there are some links between them - enough to make switching it up worthwhile.

If chronological order is your preference, kick off with V/H/S/85 - a lot of the franchise’s films helpfully add the year they are set in at the end of the title - while being warned that, although good and gory, it’s a little lighter in tone than some of what you’ll see later on. After that you have two of the stronger entries in the canon to look forward to: V/H/S/94 and V/H/S/99 both benefit from the 1990s video look making them extra spooky.

That brings you back to the first film to be released, V/H/S - the most popular segment of which was called Amateur Night, about a group of dudes whose plan for an evening of secretly filmed fun in a motel room ends in bloody terror, because their female companion is not at all what she seems. Fans liked it so much that the monster, Lilith (Hannah Fierman) later got her own movie, Siren, so cue that one up next. It really… fleshes out the story.

A similar process took place with V/H/S/2 - arguably the best film in the whole binge - and its story Slumber Party Alien Abduction. That became the basis for the stand-alone, feature-length Kids vs. Aliens, so place that next in your streaming schedule.

After that you are sliding messily down the home straight in the company of V/H/S/Viral, with its framing narrative featuring footage shot on smartphones and shared on social media that drives the people who watch it insane - developing the original movie’s idea of a stack of old tapes that has sinister powers. Finish off with V/H/S/Beyond, which brings the franchise up to date by including mockumentary and faked “found footage” among its themes, while also telling classic V/H/S tales about a UFO chaser and a distinctly unethical animal rights activist. Then turn off your screen and go to sleep - if you can…

  • The 12 Best Films and TV Shows to Watch If You Like Joker: Folie à Deux

The 12 Best Films and TV Shows to Watch If You Like Joker: Folie à Deux

With the arrival of Joker: Deux à Folie in cinemas, there’s a growing appetite for more dark dramas, gritty comic book adaptations and psychological thrillers. Read on to discover what to watch if you liked Joker 2 and where to stream them now.

The most significant film to revisit if you enjoyed Joker: Folie à Deux is Todd Phillips’ Joker from 2019. The psychological thriller introduced Joaquin Phoenix as the iconic comic book character, known in the film as Arthur Fleck, who is a failed clown and aspiring comedian who struggles with mental illness.

On a $70 million budget, the film grossed over $1 billion at the box office, becoming the first R-rated film to achieve that feat. It also became the first DC film to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, while Phoenix won Best Actor and the film won Best Original Score.

These DC spin-offs are reminiscent of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, which featured Heath Ledger in the iconic role as the Joker in 2008. As the second film in the franchise, The Dark Knight was a record-breaking success and became the highest-grossing superhero film of the time taking over $1 billion at the box office on a $185 million budget. It’s well regarded as one of the blueprints of modern superhero films and as one of the best films ever made.

More recently, DC has reintroduced a younger, grittier version of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman in 2022. With Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, the film was a commercial success taking over $772 million at the box office and was nominated for three Academy Awards. There is also a spin-off series from this film, The Penguin, led by Colin Farrell, as another infamous Batman villain that is another worthwhile watch.

Outside of the superhero genre, there are other psychological thrillers that emulate the themes, energy and satirical horror evoked in Joker and Joker: Folie à Deux such as Mary Harron’s American Psycho, the 2014 Neo-noir thriller, Nightcrawler, The Vanishing and Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver.

Lady Gaga, who stars in the sequel as Joker’s love interest, Harley Quinn, also appears in the horror anthology series, American Horror Story in season five and six, which is another ideal series to stream after Joker 2.

Where to watch the best movies and TV shows like Joker: Folie à Deux

With so many excellent options to choose from, here’s the best films and TV shows to watch after Joker: Folie à Deux and where to stream them now.

  • How (and Where) to Watch All the Hannibal Lecter Movies and TV Series in Order

How (and Where) to Watch All the Hannibal Lecter Movies and TV Series in Order

Hannibal Lecter is one of the most iconic fictional serial killers of all time. Known for his elegant manners and viscous cannibalistic tendencies, Lecter made his big mark on pop culture in 1991’s Silence of the Lambs played by Academy Award-winner Anthony Hopkins. Find out how (and where) to stream all the Hannibal Lecter movies and TV series in order below!

With five official Hannibal Lecter films, and two television series based around the characters, there’s plenty of content to work with. So whether you’re keen to rewatch all the Hannibal Lecter movies and TV shows, or are trying to figure out where to start, check out our guide below to find out the best way to watch all things Hannibal in order.

How to watch the Hannibal Lecter movies and TV shows in order of release

The Hannibal Lecter franchise is based on the series of mystery novels written by Thomas Harris. From 1981 to 2006, Harris wrote four instalments (Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising) that were all subsequently adapted into feature films. The first book, Red Dragon, was first adapted into 1986’s Manhunter, before it was remade in 2002 using the book’s original title.

The Hannibal Lecter movies and TV shows in order of release:

In addition to the five film adaptations, there are two TV series in the franchise: Hannibal (three seasons released between 2013 and 2015), and Clarice (one season in 2021).

How to watch the Hannibal Lecter movies and TV shows in chronological order

The chronological timeline of the Hannibal Lecter movies and TV series is not the most consistent or easy to follow. However, Hannibal Rising is clearly the best film to start with as it explores Hannibal’s origin story as he goes from traumatised WWII survivor to Nazi hunter, to cannibalistic serial killer.

The Hannibal Lecter movies and TV shows in chronological order:

Next comes the Hannibal television series. Although the series does not fit aesthetically into the timeline because it is set in “modern” times (i.e. sound 2013–2015), it fits thematically because it explores the relationship between criminal profiler Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter before his capture. Red Dragon sees the continuation of this relationship, although this time mostly with Lecter finally behind bars. Red Dragon is actually a remake of Manhunter (1986), which is the first film in which Lecter appears as a character.

After Red Dragon/Manhunter comes the best known Hannibal film, Silence of the Lambs, which sees young FBI trainee Clarice Starling seek Lecter’s help in identifying a new serial killer known as Buffalo Bill. The 2021 television series Clarice acts as a sequel to the film, continuing Clarice’s story as she navigates her newfound reputation at the FBI.

The 2001 Hannibal film takes place a decade after the events of Silence of the Lambs. It follows FBI Special Agent Clarice Starling, who is put back on the Lecter case in an attempt to lure him out of hiding.

The Best Lady Gaga Movies and TV Shows Ranked and Where to Stream Them

Lady Gaga needs no introduction. The 13 time Grammy Award-winner has been named Time’s one of the 100 most influential people in the world twice, she’s sold over 170 million records worldwide and showcased her immeasurable talent onscreen too. Read on to discover where to watch the best Lady Gaga movies and TV shows streaming online in the United Kingdom.

Lady Gaga’s performances are world class, on and off-screen. Back in 2013, the actress made her big-screen debut in Machete Kills as La Camaleón alongside Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Cuba Gooding Jr. Though the star-studded cast action didn’t fare well at the box office, making only $17.5 million on a $20 million budget, it offered a glimpse of her exceptional acting talents in this supporting role.

Alongside this, Gaga has also made cameos as herself in films such as Muppets Most Wanted and lent her voice to series such as The Simpsons in “Lisa Goes Gaga”. Gaga went on to star in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, before she made her debut in the horror anthology series, American Horror Story. In 2015, the actress stunned fans in season 5 titled Hotel as The Countess, before returning in 2016 for Season Six, Roanoke as a special guest to play Scáthach.

These mesmerising performances were followed by her most acclaimed role as Ally in Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born. The 2018 musical romantic drama, which was led by Cooper and Lady Gaga, earned Gaga the recognition of becoming the first woman in history to win an Academy Award for Best Actress, a Grammy for Song of the Year and Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture in one year.

The film went on to win four Grammys and grossed a staggering $436 million on a $36 million budget, a remarkable feat and without a doubt, Gaga’s greatest performance to date. Since then, Gaga has fronted the 2021 biographical crime drama House of Gucci, as Patrizia Reggiani, the matriarch of the renowned fashion family. Gaga received more nominations for her performance in this role, as the Ridley Scott film went onto gross $153 million on a $75 million budget.

One of her most anticipated roles is Gaga’s performance in the American musical psychological thriller, Joker: Folie à Deux. The sequel to 2019’s Joker, sees Gaga join the cast as Harley Quinn, Joker’s (Joaquin Phoenix) love interest in the film. After its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, Joker: Folie à Deux has received positive reviews for its performances, musical numbers, costumes and design. It is certain to be another firm favourite amongst fans of Gaga’s work.

  • Watch All The Halloween Movies In Order: A Complete Streaming Guide For The 2024 Spooky Season

Watch All The Halloween Movies In Order: A Complete Streaming Guide For The 2024 Spooky Season

The Halloween movie franchise is one of the most iconic horror series in history. Created by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, it centres around masked serial killer Michael Myers. There have been many reboots and interpretations of the original Halloween stories over the years.

This guide includes details on the different Halloween franchise eras and streaming info on where to watch the Halloween movies in the UK.

    Origins and Early Films (1978-1989)

    • Halloween (1978)
    • Halloween II (1981)
    • Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
    • Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
    • Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989)

Horror fans around the world first met Michael Myers in the original 1978 Halloween movie. Directed by John Carpenter and produced by Debra Hill, the movie starred Jamie Lee Curtis as the iconic ‘final girl’ Laurie Strode and Donald Pleasance as Dr. Loomis. It was a huge commercial success and led the way for the numerous Halloween sequels over the years.

Jamie Lee Curtis returned as Laurie Strode in Halloween II as she continued to hide from Michael Myers. Halloween III: Season of the Witch experimented with a different storyline without Michael Myers, but the film received poor reviews. For the fourth and fifth instalments, The Return of Michael Myers and The Revenge of Michael Myers, Halloween went back to its roots with a terrifying fight for survival as Michael Myers faces off against Laurie Strode’s daughter, Jamie Lloyd.

    The 1990s and Early 2000s Reboots (1995-2002)

    • Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
    • Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
    • Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

The 1990s brought a new twist to the Halloween movies with the release of Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Fans were divided about a new storyline, titled the ‘Thorn Cult’, which was introduced to explain Michael Myers’ supernatural ability to stay alive. Donald Pleasance made his final appearance as Dr. Loomis in the movie before his death.

In 1998, Jamie Lee Curtis returned as Laurie Strode in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, who is now a headmistress of a boarding school and hiding from Michael Myers. The film picks up after the events of Halloween II, ignoring the storylines of the previously released films.

Halloween: Resurrection introduces a modern spin to the series with a reality TV show concept where contestants spend the night in Michael’s childhood home. The movie was panned and is considered the end of the original Halloween timeline.

    Rob Zombie’s Reboots (2007-2009)

    • Halloween (2007)
    • Halloween II (2009)

Rob Zombie rebooted the Halloween franchise, directing two movies: Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009). They explored Michael Myers’ origin story, diving deep into his childhood and psychological state. Rob Zombie’s reimagining brought a fresh perspective to the franchise, but received mixed reviews amongst fans.

Modern Era and Blumhouse Revival (2018-present)

    • Halloween (2018)
    • Halloween Kills (2021)
    • Halloween Ends (2022)

Renowned horror movie production company Blumhouse Productions got involved with the Halloween franchise in 2018. Halloween, directed by David Gordon Green, is a direct continuation of the original 1978 movie. Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode, with the film being a commercial and critical success. Laurie continues to deal with the trauma and lasting impact of Michael’s terror in Blumhouse’s Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

  • Every Rosemary’s Baby Movie and TV Show, In Order - and How to Stream Them

Every Rosemary’s Baby Movie and TV Show, In Order - and How to Stream Them

Apartment 7A takes us back to New York in the 1960s, and to a plush old apartment building with some seriously creepy vibes. There’s a young performer’s stage career hanging in the balance, a kindly old couple whose offer of help might just come with some rather onerous conditions, and a steadily mounting sense of dread. Yes, Apartment 7A is a prequel to the 1968 psychological horror classic Rosemary’s Baby, adding to the TV and film canon spinning off from the movie. Find out how to watch the Rosemary Baby’s franchise in order with our streaming guide, below.

Although Apartment 7A is set before the events of Rosemary’s Baby, and so a chronological narrative binge would start with Natalie Erika James’s 2024 film, the aesthetic and tone of the story are very much taken from what director Roman Polanski created in 1968, so we recommend watching in order of release and beginning with Rosemary’s Baby itself. Mia Farrow is Rosemary Woodhouse, who with her aspiring actor husband Guy moves into the grand old Bamford apartment block. There, the Woodhouses are befriended by the elderly couple in a neighbouring flat - soon, Guy’s career takes off, Rosemary is pregnant and all is well. But Rosemary starts to see and hear things that make her think the devil is on her tail…

A masterpiece of tension and suggestion, the film works as a comment on the never-ending struggle for domestic perfection, the alienating physical experience of pregnancy and the way women expecting a child have to deal with all sorts of people interfering in the process - but it’s mainly just a good old-fashioned horror thriller, and viewers wanted to know what happened next. They got an answer in 1976 in the straightforwardly titled Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby.

This TV movie follows the eight-year-old, and then 20 years later, the adult version of the baby Rosemary has at the end of the first film. It is the story of someone trying, through various deathly misadventures, to escape his destiny as a child of Satan - but the coven has operatives everywhere. Ruth Gordon, who memorably played the sinister Minnie Castavet in the original, reprises her role.

Then there’s the TV remake of Rosemary’s Baby, shown across two episodes in 2014. Transplanting the story from New York to Paris and making numerous small changes, it nevertheless tells essentially the same tale: Zoe Saldana is Rosemary, who comes to suspect that something is wrong with her unborn baby, her husband (Patrick J Adams) and their new friends the Castevets (Carole Bouquet and Jason Isaacs). It’s a more overtly horror-themed, gory take.

And so to Apartment 7A. If you’ve followed our advice and recently watched the original Rosemary’s Baby, you’ll be filled with intrigued dread when you learn that Julia Garner plays a woman called Terry Gionoffrio, a minor but memorable character in the first movie. As she recovers from a nasty ankle injury and moves into a nice new flat, a new kind of terror awaits.

Where to watch every Rosemary Baby’s movie and TV show online

  • Every Joker Movie Appearance In Order: Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, Joaquin Phoenix & More

Every Joker Movie Appearance In Order: Heath Ledger, Jack Nicholson, Joaquin Phoenix & More

One of the most infamous Batman villains of all time, The Joker has been played by legendary Hollywood actors in past years. Here are all of the Joker movie appearances in order of release, and where you can watch the movies in the UK.

    Joker Movies In Order

The Joker has featured in Batman movies since the ‘80s. Jack Nicholson, Jared Leto, Barry Keoghan have all taken on the iconic role of the Joker, in addition to the Academy Award winning performances from Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix.

    Batman (1989)

Jack Nicholson stars as Jack Napier, a mob enforcer, in Batman. Things take a dark turn when Napier's mission at Axis Chemicals leaves him lying in a vat of toxic sludge. With his skin bleached white and hair turned green from the chemicals, Napier transforms into the Joker and faces off against Michael Keaton’s Batman as he wreaks havoc on Gotham City.

    The Dark Knight (2008)

The second movie in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight stars Heath Ledger as the Joker alongside Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader.

    Suicide Squad (2016)

Jared Leto’s first appearance as the Joker is in Suicide Squad. Following DC Comics’ anti-hero team of imprisoned supervillains, Leto appears opposite Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

    Joker (2019)

Joker is the first movie to focus solely on Joker’s origin story. Joaquin Phoenix delivers a knock-out performance as Arthur Fleck, a failing stand-up comedian who goes insane.

    Birds Of Prey (2020)

While Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is the centre of attention in Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn), Jared Leto reprises his role as the Joker and Harley’s love interest in this Suicide Squad spin-off.

    Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)

Leto’s appearance in Zack Snyder's Justice League is small but impactful as a member of the resistance in the Knightmare future. Although the Joker was not originally planned to appear in Justice League, Snyder chose to alter the script and include Leto.

    The Batman (2022)

While The Batman focuses on Batman’s rivalry with DC Comics villain The Riddler, Barry Keoghan makes a cameo appearance as the Joker (credited as an ‘Unseen Arkham Prisoner’). Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano star in The Batman, which also introduces Colin Farrell as The Penguin ahead of the The Penguin spin-off series premiere.

    Joker: Folie À Deux (2024)

A sequel to 2019’s Joker, Joker: Folie à Deux follows Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck and his relationship with the equally insane Harley Quinn (played by Lady Gaga). This musical melodrama is a twisted love story based on the comic book classic.

    Joker TV Show Appearances

How (and Where) to Watch All the Carrie Movies in Order

When Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie was adapted into a horror film in 1976, it achieved instant iconic status. From the deranged, fanatic energy of Carrie’s religious mother, to the classic scene of a blood-covered prom queen wreaking havoc at the school dance, the film succeeded in capturing the very real feelings of shame from teenage bullying and pain from a twisted parent-child relationship, and mixing them with the horror of unbridled vengeance.

Find out how to watch Carrie and the other Carrie movies, and see where you can stream each instalment below!

How to watch the Carrie movies in order

Director Brian De Palma and screenwriter Lawrence D Cohen adapted Stephen King's book into 1976’s film Carrie. The film stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, an awkward and unpopular teenager with latent telekinetic abilities who is viciously bullied at school after she mistakenly believes she is dying after she first gets her period. Piper Laurie plays her deranged religious mother, Margaret, who sees everything through the lens of sin and repentance. When Carrie is invited to the prom under false pretences, her powers are unleashed to devastating effect as she takes vengeance on her peers.

After De Palma’s iconic adaptation, no director dared approach the material for another 20 years. However, in 1999, director Katt Shea made a sequel focusing on Carrie’s half-sister, Rachel. Rachel also possesses telekinetic powers that she winds up using for bloody revenge.

The following two instalments are remakes of the original film rather than sequels. If you are trying to watch the Carrie movies in order, the best approach would therefore be in order of release.

In 2002, Bryan Fuller (known for creating the series Hannibal) wrote a retelling of King’s novel Carrie, with David Carson as director. While the film was not well received, critics and fans praised Angela Bettis' performance as Carrie.

In 2013, director Kimberly Peirce (known for Boys Don’t Cry) made her attempt at retelling the story. While the film was slightly better received than Fuller’s, and was meant to adapt the story for a more modern audience, critics and fans widely agree that the original still reigns supreme as the ultimate Carrie film for the ages.

Iconic horror director Wes Craven’s first Scream splattered across cinema screens in 1996, delighting and terrifying teens and adults across the globe with its tongue-in-cheek approach mixed with proper slasher elements. The film introduced audiences to ultimate survivors Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), and Dewey Riley (David Arquette), who are time and again terrorised by a knife-wielding serial killer wearing a Ghostface mask in the fictional small town of Woodsboro, California.

The 1997 sequel was even better received, as it doubled down on the self-referential irony and ratcheted up the over-the-top gore. Two more sequels directed by Craven continuing the story were released between 2000 and 2011. Wes Craven sadly passed away in 2015, and it wasn’t until 2022 that a new directorial team (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) braved reviving the film series.

However, between 2015 and 2019 not all was quiet on the Scream front. A standalone television series was adapted and ran for three seasons. The series took place in Lakewood, Colorado, not the classic Woodsboro location, and follows the story of a new group of teens who are stalked by a masked killer. The series also made the controversial decision to change the classic Ghostface mask.

In 2022 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett released their first Scream film, featuring a mix of the old guard (Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, and David Arquette as Dewey Riley) with a new generation (Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter, and others). In 2023, the new directorial duo released the next instalment, Scream VI, which brought the young protagonists and classic survivors to an all-new setting: New York City.

10 Movies and TV Shows Like The Penguin (And Where to Stream Them)

After Matt Reeves’ The Batman introduced audiences to the awkward but ambitious gangster Oz Cobb in 2022, it was only a short matter of time before HBO announced a spinoff series exploring the character. Rendered completely unrecognisable due to layers of prosthetics and a thick New York City accent, Cobb (aka The Penguin) is played by Irish actor Colin Farrell, who reprised the role in the Penguin series released in the UK on Sky Atlantic and NOW on September 20, 2024.

The series takes a gritty, realistic look at the rise of one of Batman’s most notorious villains, The Penguin, as he vies for mob power against the psychotic Sofia Falcone in Gotham. The series takes after several iconic gangster films, and shares many compelling elements with a variety of movies and TV shows across genres. Take a look at our list of movies and TV series like The Penguin, and find out where you can watch them below!

    The Batman - Movie

The Batman from 2022 takes place in the same universe as Max’s The Penguin. It is the first time Colin Farrell’s iteration of the character appears on screen, and acts as an introduction to Matt Reeves’ vision of the Batman. The film’s dark and realistic tone transfers perfectly into The Penguin series — on which Reeves acted as a writing and creative supervisor — and takes place one week after the events of The Batman.

    The Sopranos - TV Series

The Penguin is nothing if not a gangster series, and what better modern gangster series is there than HBO’s iconic The Sopranos? Starring James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, the series follows Tony’s reign as a New Jersey mob boss trying to balance his family life with his illicit work activities — all while attending therapy for an anxiety disorder. In addition, like Tony Soprano, Oz Cobb has a painful relationship with his mother that dominates much of his psychology.

    Luke Cage - TV Series

This Marvel TV series is part of their collaboration with Netflix that includes fellow superhero ‘Defenders’ Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, in addition to The Punisher. Luke Cage is a super strong vigilante with bulletproof skin who uses his powers to protect the inhabitants of Harlem. The first season of Luke Cage is especially similar to The Penguin, as much of it revolves around the Paradise nightclub (similar to the Iceberg lounge) where the gangster Cornell ‘Cottonmouth’ Stokes (Mahershala Ali) runs the show.

    Gotham - TV Series

Warner Bros Television’s DC TV series Gotham ran between 2014 and 2019. The series also takes place within the Batman universe, focusing on a young Detective Gordon as he takes on his first cases at the Gotham Police Department. While the series is structured somewhat like a procedural, the settings and characters do vary throughout the seasons. Oswald Cobblepot also features throughout as a low-level gangster rising through the ranks who causes problems for Gordon. While the series’ tone is much less gritty and realistic than The Penguin, if you love all things Batman and want to see another iteration of the Penguin (played by a sly Robin Lord Taylor), make sure to check out Gotham.

    Goodfellas - Movie

Delving back into the purely organised crime side of The Penguin, Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas is a must-watch for any fan of the genre. The iconic gangster film released in 1990 stars Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, and Joe Pesci as three friends and associates trying to keep their heads above water as they navigate the mob scene in 1970s New York City. As one of the most influential films in the mob crime genre, Goodfellas had a huge influence on The Penguin, including on plot structure, character development, and the overall visual aesthetic.

    Peaky Blinders - TV Series

Continuing with the gangster theme, Peaky Blinders is one of the best in the television genre. With six seasons airing from 2013 to 2022, Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders stars Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, the leader of the Peaky Blinders street gang. His ambition drives him to seek ever more power, starting in Birmingham in 1919 after the first World War through to the end of 1933. Although it's a period crime drama, its storytelling, gritty characters, graphic violence, and political intrigue make it a compelling watch for any fan of The Penguin.

    Griselda - TV Series

Despite most of the entries on this list selling the idea that only men can be vicious mob bosses, they’d be given a run for their money by Griselda. This 2024 Netflix series starring Sofia Vergara is based on the true story of Griselda Blanco, an infamous Colombian drug lord who dominated the narcotrafficking scene in Miami in the 1980s. This fast-paced, high-budget series features an Emmy-nominated performance by Vergara and explores the consequences of seeking power at all costs.

    Gomorrah - TV Series

This Italian crime drama series ran for five seasons between 2014 and 2021. Based on investigative journalist Roberto Saviano’s novel of the same name, the fictional series follows the power struggle that breaks out in the Camorra criminal organisation in Naples between the young guard, the old guard, and their rivals. This series, above all others, seeks to destroy any attempt to glorify the mob and highlights the real-life results of organised crime’s chronic grip on a whole city — and even a country.

    The Dark Knight - Movie

Diving back into Batman lore, 2008’s The Dark Knight is perhaps the most beloved of all Batman movies. Although the film features another iconic Batman villain, The Joker (played by Heath Ledger), Christopher Nolan’s film succeeded in bringing a realistic feel to the franchise that had previously been depicted in mostly campy style. If you’re in the mood for an excellent Batman film featuring brilliant performances, unhinged violence, and gritty drama, The Dark Knight is the film for you.

    Narcos - TV Series

Narcos is a brilliant Spanish-language Netflix series that spanned three seasons airing between 2015 and 2017. Like Griselda, the series focuses on a notorious real-life Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. As the leader of the Medellín Cartel, Escobar dominated the drug trade in the 1980s to the early ‘90s, and the series follows his rise to power even as he plays an increasingly dangerous game of cat and mouse with the CIA. Like The Penguin, Narcos focuses on the complex character of the mob boss and the consequences of their actions.

  • The 10 Best Colin Farrell Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

The 10 Best Colin Farrell Movies, Ranked - and How to Stream Them

Colin Farrell could have got by on his matinee-idol looks, churning out action movies and romantic comedies and enjoying a pleasantly lucrative cinema career. Actors like that tend to toss in the odd arthouse hit or experimental cameo role to see off accusations of typecasting. In the case of Colin Farrell, the interesting films have gradually replaced the mainstream ones, but he has a knack for starring in boundary-pushing movies that still do well at the box office. See below for our pick of the ten best Colin Farrell films, and where to stream them.

Colin Farrell’s best early work was in collaboration with the director Joel Schumacher. In Tigerland, Farrell is a man of contrasts as an anti-war protestor who is drafted to fight in Vietnam and finds, at the training camp that gives the film its name, that he is a gifted soldier and leader of men. Farrell and Schumacher reunited for Phone Booth, a high-concept thriller that relies on Farrell constantly being on screen as an adulterous man threatened by an unseen sniper. In between those, Farrell cemented his Hollywood status with a crucial supporting role in Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report.

Now in the big time, Farrell took a while to find his rhythm as a proper film star: the blockbusters he appeared in during the early 2000s are hit and miss. Signs of a more interesting actor started to emerge in Oliver Stone’s historical epic Alexander, and when Farrell took a lead role in provocative romantic drama The New World, directed by arthouse legend Terrence Malick, as a colonial settler helping to establish Jamestown, Virginia. Then he shone in Michael Mann’s successful reboot of the cult TV series Miami Vice, before finding the director with whom Farrell would do his best work: Martin McDonagh.

McDonagh’s first movie was In Bruges, a fantastic thriller soaked in the blackest comedy. As a hitman riven with guilt at a job gone wrong, Farrell gives his definitive performance: funny and sexy when required, but with a dark vulnerability. Those qualities had been present before but the acclaim for In Bruges crystallised what sort of actor Farrell could be - he’s never looked back.

Collaborations with daring Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos were fruitful, notably The Lobster, in which Farrell’s alpha-male urges are curbed entirely as he plays a cuckolded man sent to a hotel where singletons are forced to pair up. Farrell also stuck with Martin McDonagh and In Bruges co-star Brendan Gleeson, scoring a huge critical hit with the deceptively simple comedy The Banshees of Inisherin, with Farrell as a naive man who cannot understand why his best friend has tired of him.

Even his superhero movies are a cut above: Colin Farrell is now starring in the TV series The Penguin, having revealed the damaged man inside the Gotham City villain in the 2022 movie The Batman.

As The Penguin reaches the small screen, you’ll want to stream The Batman to remind yourself of how Farrell got started in the role. For those wanting to find out where to watch the other movies on our list of Colin Farrell’s ten best, see below.

So far, there are two Smile films in the franchise: the original from 2022 and the sequel from 2024. Here’s how to watch the Smile films in release and chronological order:

The first Smile follows the story of Rose (Sosie Bacon), a psychologist who witnesses the suicide of a patient who smiles unnervingly at her right before she commits the act. From then on, Rose is hounded by other smiling people, and comes to the conclusion she is being stalked by a ‘smile entity’, an evil being that feeds off of trauma whose curse can only be passed on to someone else when they witness the current curse carrier murder someone.

Given the big box office success and enthusiastic fan reception of the first film, a sequel, Smile 2, was commissioned and will be released in cinemas on October 18, 2024. The second film returns to the same premise, but this time with an almost entirely different cast, focusing on pop star Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) as she is pursued by the ‘smile entity’ while on tour. How to Watch All The Mummy Movies in Order

The Mummy franchise kicked off in 1999 and succeeded in becoming a global phenomenon in the adventure-horror genre. The films captured the imaginations of lovers of ancient Egypt, horror, and good old fashioned adventure movies all in one. Check out the JustWatch guide below to find out how to stream all of The Mummy movies in order!

Universal Pictures’ original Mummy franchise started in 1932 and went until 1955. With a total of six instalments, the franchise focused more on the horror aspect of Mummy reanimation and revenge. In 1999, director Stephen Sommers released his remake of The Mummy starring Brandon Fraser and Rachel Weisz that would bring the franchise back to life. Two direct sequels were released between 2001 and 2008 before Universal decided to shift course and focus on the spinoff prequel films. There are five prequels in total (four of which were direct-to-video) that focus on The Scorpion King’s origin story, released between 2002 and 2018.

    Universal Pictures’ The Mummy

Between 1932 and 1955, Universal released their horror film series The Mummy. Check out all of the instalments in release and chronological order:

    Stephen Sommers’ The Mummy

Stephen Sommers’ reboot of the franchise is widely considered to be the best and most definitive series of The Mummy films. Between 1999 and 2008, three The Mummy films were released that reanimated the franchise and gave it a more adventure oriented feel than the original horror films. Check out all the Mummy films in order of release (and chronological order) below:

    The Scorpion King Spinoff Prequels

Between 2002 and 2018, Universal released five spinoff films that went back in time and focused on the life of The Scorpion King, the main antagonist of The Mummy Returns. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson stars in the first instalment as Mathayus (aka the Scorpion King). While the first film was released in cinemas, the following four were released direct-to-video.

    Tom Cruise’s The Mummy

In 2017, director Alex Kurtzman resurrected the franchise for Universal with a film starring Tom Cruise. The film was intended to set up Universal's so-called Dark Universe project. However, the film did not perform adequately with fans, critics, or at the box office so future instalments were scrapped.

  • How to Watch All The Exorcist Movies in Order

How to Watch All The Exorcist Movies in Order

Since its release in 1973, The Exorcist has become widely recognised as one of the most iconic films in horror history. The darkly foreboding storytelling, blasphemous nature of its content, and shocking moments of demonic evil turned heads (so to speak) when it was first released and continues to inspire filmmakers to this day.

Check out the JustWatch guide to all of The Exorcist films in order and find out how (and where) you can stream them below!

The first Exorcist film was based on William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel of the same name. It introduced audiences to the 12-year old Regan MacNeil, played by Linda Blair, who becomes possessed by an ancient Assyrian demon known as Pazuzu. Doctors and psychologists are baffled by the case, and in her desperation Regan’s mother turns to two Catholic priests — Father Damien Karras and Father Lankester Merrin — to help exorcise the demon.

Watch The Exorcist Movies in Order of Release

Since the original film’s release in 1973, there have been an additional five instalments and a sixth on the way with 2025’s The Exorcist: Deceiver. Here’s how to watch all of The Exorcist movies in order of release:

Watch The Exorcist Movies in Chronological Order

If you want to watch all of The Exorcist movies following the series of events starting from the demon Pazuzu’s original discovery, check out the list below to find out how to watch all the movies in chronological order. The first film, 2005’s Dominion, is an alternate prequel to 2004’s The Beginning. Dominion was originally commissioned with Paul Schrader at the helm, but the studio was dissatisfied with the end product and rehashed it with Renny Harlin to create Beginning. However, after Beginning performed poorly at the box office, the studio later released Schrader’s cut.

The Exorcist II was released as a direct sequel to the original, and takes place four years after the events of The Exorcist. However, the film was poorly received so its sequel, Exorcist III, was made without much allusion to the second film, and could therefore be watched directly after the first. Exorcist III takes place some 15 years after the events of the original Exorcist.

In 2023, director David Gordon Green released The Exorcist: Believer, which he maintained was a direct sequel to the original Exorcist. The story takes place some 30 years after the original, and is expected to spawn a trilogy. The second instalment, The Exorcist: Deceiver, is set to be released in 2025.

Since then, Stephen Graham has appeared in a host of the best British dramas such as Peaky Blinders, Line of Duty, Time, Help and Boiling Point with leading or recurring roles that have been unforgettable.

The first season of Time, a prison based anthology drama, received widespread praise especially for Graham and his lead co-star Sean Bean. For this role he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs. He was also nominated for awards for his performance in Help and praised for his outstanding role in the kitchen drama and the film version of Boiling Point.

More recently, Stephen Graham starred in Netflix’s science fiction thriller, Bodies, which received favourable reviews for the gripping premise that the same body appears at four different moments in time - which are decades apart.

Alongside this, the actor has been at the helm of acclaimed films such as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the Elton John biopic, Rocketman and Matilda The Musical. Based on John Le Carre’s novel, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy featured a star studded cast such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Gary Oldman and was a hit at the box office, grossing over $81 million on its $20 million budget.

Stephen Graham continues to feature in major franchises such Marvel’s Venom franchise as Patrick Mulligan and is reprising his role in the upcoming third film, Venom: The Last Dance. The superhero sequel, Venom: Let there be carnage from 2021, led by Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, soared at the box office making over $506 million on its $110 million budget.

Arguably, Graham’s best roles are his small screen ones where across hours of dramas he is able to showcase the breadth of his talent, such as with BBC’s Time or Boiling Point - which also became a film.
