Ever since Bridget Jones appeared on screen in Bridget Jones’s Diary singing Céline Dion’s ‘All By Myself’ in 2001, audiences have fallen in love over and over again with the charming, clumsy, and utterly relatable protagonist. Based on Helen Fielding’s newspaper column-turned-novel(s), the Bridget Jones films have since multiplied into four instalments, with the most recent addition, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, set to premiere in cinemas just in time for Valentine’s Day on February 13, 2025.
In Mad About the Boy, Renée Zellweger once more plays darling Bridget as she navigates a new chapter in her life. Having sadly been recently widowed (RIP Mark Darcy *sob*, your perfection will never be forgotten) and raising their two children on her own, a 51-year-old Bridget embarks on a bold adventure into the modern dating world.
Whether you’re catching up on all the Bridget Jones films before seeing the latest instalment, or have already seen it and just want to spend a little more time in Helen Fielding glorious romcom world, check out our guide to how (and where) to watch all of the Bridget Jones movies in order from the United Kingdom below!
All of the Bridget Jones movies in order
If you want to watch the Bridget Jones movies in order, it is luckily very simple! Both the chronological and release orders are the same, meaning you simply need to start with 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary and watch the story unfold throughout the next three instalments.
- Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
- Bridget Jones: The End of Reason (2004)
- Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016)
- Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025)
Bridget has been through a lot over the years. In Bridget Jones’s Diary, the single 30-something starts out having an affair with her boss, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant), while her slow-build romance with the Pride and Prejudice-inspired Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) hots up. In The Edge of Reason, Bridget and Darcy’s relationship is tested and temporarily paused while she happens to be working abroad with Daniel Cleaver.
In Bridget Jones’s Baby, 43-year-old Bridget finds herself pregnant and unsure if the father is Mark or Patrick Dempsey’s dashing Jack Qwant. Finally, in Mad About the Boy, Bridget explores the modern dating scene — complete with apps, younger men, and botox — while raising her two children after Mark’s tragic death. Although over the years Bridget never quite learns to move forward with grace, move forward she does with all the lovable clumsiness that made her an icon from the start.
