It’s nearly clobberin’ time once more for the Fantastic Four! After years of stumbling beginnings, reboots, and drawn-out pauses, the Fantastic Four are finally set for a brand new outing — this time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe — with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The film is scheduled to premiere in cinemas in the United Kingdom on July 25, 2025.
While the Fantastic Four might be making their ‘first steps’ in the MCU, the quad have been around on screens big and small since the late 1960s. Check out all of the Fantastic Four movies and TV shows, and find out where you can stream them below!

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Fantastic Four were originally created as Marvel Comics superhero squad composed of Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards), Invisible Woman (aka Susan Storm), Human Torch (aka Johnny Storm), and Thing (aka Ben Grimm).
Over the years, the Fantastic Four have had a series of somewhat successful animated television series, but their live-action films have had fairly bad to mixed receptions.

The first 1994 Fantastic Four film was apparently so awful that it was never officially released. However, in 2005, 20th Century Fox took a crack with an adaptation starring Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, and Kerry Washington. While this film too was originally not well received, in recent years a newly found appreciation for it has sprung from the catastrophic disappointment around its 2015 reboot starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B Jordan, and Jamie Bell.
In the wake of the 2015 box office bomb, 20th Century Fox was sold to Disney (who also own Marvel Studios), giving the Fantastic Four another chance at live-action redemption within the MCU. In two subsequent Marvel productions, Fantastic Four members made brief cameos — including Reed Richards (played by John Krasinski) in Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Johnny Storm (played once more by Chris Evans) in Deadpool & Wolverine — before finally getting their own standalone movie.
In 2025, the Fantastic Four are ready to reassemble in their first solo debut in the MCU with an all new cast including Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.
What is the best Fantastic Four movie or TV show?
In terms of TV shows, Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes is widely seen as the best animated series featuring the squad. Although it only lasted one season, its straightforward interpretation of stories from the comic books, plus its sleek animation style helped ease the disappointment in the wake of the 2005 live-action film’s release.
Given the above, it might seem counterintuitive to name 2005’s Fantastic Four as the best of the film selection — but here we are. Until First Steps is released and possibly takes the crown as the best Fantastic Four movie, the 2005 film can proudly claim the title. Although it was originally badly received, in recent years it has undergone a reconsideration that has largely landed in its favour. Yes, it may have been bashed for its attempts at humour, debatable acting, and beige plotlines, but in comparison to the next instalments — especially the 2015 reboot — it’s a solid attempt. And if the celebration of Chris Evans reprising his role as the Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine is any indication, it seems the film is now seen in a much gentler light.
