The writer of Contagion envisions a potential future for Earth in Apple TV+ drama.
Extrapolations is an Apple TV+ anthology drama series created by Scott Z. Burns and produced by Media Res. Burns wrote 2011’s Contagion which became popular at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic due to its uncanny similarity to the actual outbreak. Burns additionally produced the Academy Award-winning An Inconvenient Truth, a documentary highlighting the disastrous effects of climate change.
Each episode is set in a different year of the 21st century (2037, 2046, 2047, 2052, 2059, 2066, 2068, and 2070). These episodes explore the lives of several characters, highlighting their challenges and achievements in the context of a deteriorating climate.
The cast of Extrapolations includes an ensemble of Hollywood stars including Meryl Streep, Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, David Schwimmer, Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Kit Harington, Sienna Miller, Marion Cotillard, Tobey Maguire and Diane Lane, just to name a few.
