Contagion writer imagines a possible daunting future for Earth in Apple TV+ series
Extrapolations is an Apple TV+ anthology drama series created by Scott Z. Burns and produced by Media Res. Burns wrote 2011's Contagion which gained prominence at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic craze because of its close resemblance to the actual event. Additionally, Burns produced the Academy Award-winning An Inconvenient Truth, a documentary that sheds light on the catastrophic effects of climate change.
Each episode is set in a different year of the 21st century (2037, 2046, 2047, 2052, 2059, 2066, 2068, and 2070). These stories focus on the lives of several characters, showcasing their struggles and successes in an environment that is deteriorating due to climate change.
The cast of Extrapolations includes an impressive array of acting talent including Meryl Streep, Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, David Schwimmer, Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Kit Harington, Sienna Miller, Marion Cotillard, Tobey Maguire and Diane Lane, to name a few.
