In a post-war world, certain individuals possess the ability to manipulate one of the four primary elements, namely air, water, earth, or fire. Aang, the last surviving Airbender, is the "Avatar" and acts as a bridge between the physical and spirit worlds. He is the only one who can control all four elements and his responsibility is to maintain balance and harmony in the world by promoting peace. Aang's mission is to stop the militaristic Fire Nation from taking over the world. Accompanied by his new friends Katara and Sokka, Aang embarks on a journey to master the elements while being pursued by Zuko, the exiled prince of the Fire Nation, who wants to capture Aang to regain his lost honour.
Avatar: The Last Airbender season 1 is the first season of Netflix's action-fantasy TV series developed by Albert Kim. It is the live-action TV adaptation of the revered Nickelodeon animated series of the same name created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. While the original creators were supposed to oversee the live-action version, they ultimately left the project due to creative disagreements. As a result, Albert Kim took over as showrunner, who has previously worked on TV shows like Sleepy Hollow and Nikita.
The live-action series adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender comprises of eight episodes, each lasting for an hour and costing over $15 million per episode. The first two episodes are directed by Michael Goi, who has previously directed Megan Is Missing and episodes of American Horror Story.
