The Electric State is a science-fiction adventure film based on Simon Stålenhag’s graphic novel of the same name. The film follows an orphaned teenager named Michelle, as she travels along the West Coast of a post-apocalyptic America with a drone called Skip.
Millie Bobby Brown stars as Michelle, a teenager searching for her long-lost brother. Brown is best known for her role as Eleven in Netflix’s Stranger Things. Chris Pratt (Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy) co-stars as Keats alongside Ke Huy Quan (Everything, Everywhere, All At Once) as Dr. Amherst. The cast also features Stanley Tucci as Ethan Skate, Woody Norman as Christopher and Devyn Dalton as Cosmo. In addition, many actors including Brian Cox, Jenny Slate, Anthony Mackie, Billy Bob Thornton and Giancarlo Esposito have lent their voices to the film.
The supporting cast of The Electric State includes Terry Notary as Mr. Peanut, Martin Klebba as Herman, Paul Harrison as Ligotti, Adam Croasdell as Marshall and Gabrielle Maiden as Penny Pal. Chris Silvestri, Brooke Bloom, Cuyle Carvin, Alan Boell, Myles Evans, Angela Davis and Randy Havens round out the cast.
The Electric State is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The Russo Brothers are known for their blockbuster hits, which include Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and Netflix action-adventure movies Extraction and The Gray Man. The Electric State screenplay is written by Russo Brothers’ frequent collaborators Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
