Bayard Rustin dedicated his life to serving communities and fighting for humanitarian causes. He was especially known for his work to organise labour unions and champion civil rights. Although he is not typically associated with the Equal Rights Movement, Rustin was a pivotal player, working as a strategist and organiser in the 1960s, including managing the 1963 March on Washington. Rustin was also a trusted advisor to Martin Luther King Jr, and an openly gay Black man who fought tirelessly for equality.

Produced by Michelle and Barack Obama’s production company Higher Ground Productions, the film is directed by Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom director George C. Wolfe.
