The Vikings are known as explorers. After the razing of Kattegat to the ground, the open seas play host to a variety of Viking missions testing the waters for future alliances. Vikings Valhalla Season 2 is an historical drama television series distributed by Netflix. The show is created by writer and director Jeb Stuart. Stuart is known for writing the original Die Hard as well as the action thriller The Fugitive. Season 2 adds the director David Frazee to the team while keeping Stuart on board as a writer for the series. Trevor Morris continues as a composer, tying the dramatic events together.
Season 2 sees Sam Corlett back as Leif, suffering from the death of his lover and Lif. Leo Suter is Harald Sigurdson, the Nordic prince. Frida Gustavsson is Freydis, a Norse warrior on a revenge mission. Eyeing the Danish throne is King Cnut played by Bradley Freegard with his wife and strategist Emma of Normandy played by Laura Berlin. Florian Munteanu joins the cast as Maniakes, a general from the Byzantine Empire. Vikings Valhalla Season 2 was released on Netflix on January 12th, 2023.
As early as January 2022, series creator Jeb Stuart was teasing the production of Season 2. In an interview, the showrunner suggested that the second season would have a different vibe to it through many of the same characters. In March 2022, Netflix officially confirmed that the show would run for two more seasons. The arrival of Florian Munteanu in a recurring role confirms the role of the Byzantine Empire. The first official clip from the Vikings Valhalla second season was revealed in September 2022 at the Netflix TUDUM event. It teases a showdown between different Viking factions. In November 2022, the first images from the new season are released. They tease the turbulent paths of the characters and offer a glimpse at the trademark violence of the show. In December 2022, the first trailer for the second season was revealed showing the drastically different paths the main characters would follow. Vikings Valhalla Season 2 was released on Netflix on January 12th, 2023.
