The town of Espanola becomes home to wealthy couple Asher and Whitney who are trying for a baby while filming their latest show. Known for their home improvement series, Flipanthropy, the couple takes locals of the town and films them to make their show more authentic. But when Asher falls afoul of one young resident of Espanola, everything changes for the couple.
The Curse Season 1 is a comedy-drama TV series produced by Blow Out Productions, Elara Pictures, Fruit Tree Enterprise, and A24. The show is created by comedian and writer Nathan Fielder alongside director Benny Safdie. Nathan Fielder is known for his comedy shows, Nathan for You and The Rehearsal while Safdie has co-directed movies such as Good Time, and Uncut Gems. The Curse Season 1 is written by Fielder and Safdie with additional writing from Carrie Kemper.
The Curse Season 1 stars Emma Stone in the role of Whitney Siegel. Stone is an award-winning actress best known for roles in Cruella and The Favorite. She is joined by Nathan Fielder who stars as Asher Siegel, and Benny Safdie who plays their TV producer, Dougie Schecter. The cast also includes Barkhad Abdi, Constance Shulman, Gary Farmer, Dahabo Ahmed, and Corbin Bernsen. The Curse Season 1 was released on Showtime on November 10, 2023.
