Synopsis
Twin doctors look to change the way women give birth
Beverly and Elliot are brilliant identical twin gynecologists. Relying on each other always, the pair share almost everything - from romantic partners to drugs. Dead Ringers is a psychological thriller television miniseries. It is based on the 1988 movie of the same name directed by horror maestro David Cronenberg. The show is produced by Amazon Studios, Annapurna Television, and Morgan Creek Entertainment. Alice Birch is the head writer of the show and acts as an executive producer. She is known for the screenplays of Lady Macbeth and The Wonder as well as having written episodes of Succession, Normal People, and Conversations with Friends. Confirmed directors include Sean Durkin, Karena Evans, Lauren Wolkstein, and Karyn Kusama.
Dead Ringers is led by the award-winning actress Rachel Weisz who plays twin gynecologists, Elliot and Beverly Mantle. These gender-flipped roles were played by Jeremy Irons in the original Cronenberg movie. Rachel Weisz is the recipient of an Academy Award, a Laurence Olivier Award, and a BAFTA. She is joined by Michael Chernus who plays Tom, Poppy Liu who portrays Greta, and Britne Oldford as Genevieve. Jeremy Shamos, Jennifer Ehle, and Emily Meade round out the cast in recurring roles.
Dead Ringers was released on April 21st, 2023. The show premiered on Amazon Prime Video.
