Eli Roth writes and directs adaptation of Borderlands video game for Lionsgate
Borderlands is a sci-fi comedy movie produced by Lionsgate. Eli Roth, known mostly for his work directing horror films like Cabin Fever and Hostel, directs the movie based on Gearbox Software’s video game of the same name. The Borderlands video game is a first-person shooter that takes place mostly on the planet of Pandora in a Space Western-style setting.
Borderlands features Oscar-winner Cate Blanchette in the leading role as the team’s leader Lilith. She is joined by comedian Kevin Hart as elite ex-mercenary Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as the archaeologist Patricia Tannis, Jack Black as the voice of the sarcastic robot Claptrap, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina the demolitionist, and Florian Munteanu as Tina’s protector, Krieg. One of the Borderlands universe’s most powerful beings, Atlas, is played by Édgar Ramírez. Other cast members include Bobby Lee, Gina Gershon, Benjamin Byron Davis, and more. Borderlands was released in cinemas on August 9, 2024.
