The Idol is a drama series produced by A24 and HBO Entertainment. The series is co-created by award-winning Canadian musician The Weeknd, the creator of Euphoria, Sam Levinson, and writer Reza Fahim. The series runs for six episodes and features original music by the Weeknd, in addition to K-Pop star Jennie Kim from Blackpink, Moses Sumney, and the legendary producer Mike Dean.
The Weeknd not only creates and executive produces the series, but also stars as Tedros, a self-help guru and cult leader. The leading role is taken by Lily-Rose Depp, who plays Jocelyn, a pop star on the rise. The rest of the supporting cast includes Hank Azaria as Jocelyn’s father, Eli Roth as her uncle, and Dan Levy as her agent. The series also features plenty of musicians, including Troye Silvan, Moses Sumney, Mike Dean, Jennie Kim as Anys, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Tunde Adebimpe, and others.
