The Fall of the House of Usher is a gothic horror miniseries produced by Intrepid Pictures for Netflix. The series loosely is based on a 1839 short story of the same name by American author Edgar Allan Poe. While The Fall of the House of Usher is a prominent inspiration, the series is in fact more of an amalgamation of many of Edgar Allan Poe’s stories and poems. Renowned horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) creates and directs the series, while the Newton Brothers compose the score.
The series’ cast consists of many previous Flanagan collaborators, including Carla Gugino as the ‘villain’ Verna, Samantha Sloyan as Tamerlane Usher, T'Nia Miller as Victorine LaFourcade, Kate Siegel as Camille L'Espanaye, Katie Parker as Annabel Lee, Michael Trucco as Rufus Wilmot Griswold, Henry Thomas as Frederick Usher, Sauriyan Sapkota as Prospero Usher, and Carl Lumbly as detective C Auguste Dupin. Other members of the cast include Mark Hamill as Arthur Pym, Bruce Greenwood as the Usher family patriarch, Roderick Usher, and Mary McDonnell as Madeline, Roderick’s twin sister.
