Venom writer brings horror-fantasy series starring LaKeith Stanfield to Apple TV+
The Changeling Season 1 is the first season of the horror-fantasy series produced by Annapurna Television for Apple TV+. The Changeling is based on Victor LaValle’s novel of the same name written in 2017. Kelly Marcel both writes and creates the series, after previously writing Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Fifty Shades of Grey. Grammy Award-winner Melina Matsoukas directs The Changeling, after previously finding success directing music videos for stars such as Beyonce and Rihanna. She made her directorial debut with Queen & Slim before going on to direct many episodes of Issa Rae’s Insecure.
LaKeith Stanfield (Atlanta, Get Out) stars in The Changeling as Apollo Kagwa, a husband and father desperately searching for his wife and son. Apollo’s wife, Emma Valentine, is played by Clark Backo, and Adina Porter plays his mother, Lillian Kagwa. In his first on-screen role, Future Islands frontman Samuel T Herring appears as William Wheeler, an ally and friend to Apollo. Malcolm Barrett, Amirah Vann, and Jared Abrahamson also star in the first season of The Changeling.
