The creator of Contagion imagines the Earth’s future in Apple TV+ drama
Extrapolations is an anthology drama series produced by Apple TV+. The series is created by Scott Z. Burns and produced by Media Res. Burns wrote the film Contagion (2011), which gained traction at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic due to its eerie resemblance to the real-life outbreak. Burns also produced An Inconvenient Truth (2006), an award-winning documentary about the disastrous effects of climate change. The cast of Extrapolations includes Meryl Streep, Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, David Schwimmer, Kerri Russell, Matthew Rhys, Kit Harington, Sienna Miller, Marion Cotillard, Tobey Maguire, Diane Lane, and many more.
As an anthology series, each episode of Extrapolations is unique, taking place at a specific time during the 21st century (2037, 2046, 2047, 2052, 2059, 2066, 2068, and 2070). Each episode focuses on the story of a few characters, detailing their struggles and successes against the backdrop of a deteriorating climate.
