Orangutan Island - Season 2 (2008)

ORANGUTAN ISLAND is back and the 32 orphaned orangutans are in for some big changes. Lone Droscher-Nielsen, project manager of the Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, decides to open the border between Palas Island and Orangutan Island, enabling the older orangutans to live with the younger orphans. The hope is the Palas Island elders will nurture and teach the youngsters, but this also could upset the dynamic of the island, endangering the progress made toward creating a strong society of orangutans that can survive in the wild. Before long, limited island sanctuaries will force Lone to face some tough choices, including moving all the orangutans to another island and merging them with a third community. The charm, ingenuity, humor and surprises that permeated the first season continue in the second, but the stakes are even higher.
