The musical series takes place four years before Grease
Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Season 1 is the first season of the musical series developed by Paramount Pictures, and based on the iconic 1978 musical Grease. The series takes place four years before the events of the film. Annabel Oakes is the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. She is joined as producer by Alethea Jones, who also directs the pilot episode as well as two later episodes in season 1. Justin Tranter writes the big musical numbers, and Jamal Sims (RuPaul’s Drag Race) choreographs the dance routines.
The series is led by four main characters, played by Cheyenne (The Late Late Show with James Corden) Isabel Wells as Olivia, Marisa Davila (Atypical) as Jane, Ari Notartomas (Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin) as Cynthia, and Tricia Fukuhara (Queenpins) as Nancy. Assistant Principal McGee appears once again in the series, portrayed by Jackie Hoffman, and Chris McNally plays Mr. Daniels.
