What is Franklin about?
Franklin is an historical drama miniseries produced for Apple TV. The miniseries follows the story of American Founding Father Benjamin Franklin’s mission to France in 1776, in which he sought to gain French support for the war effort between the fledgeling independent colonies of the United States and Great Britain. The series is written by Kirk Ellis and Howard Korder, and directed by Tim Van Patten. Ellis is known for his Emmy Award-winning work on John Adams, while Korder is known for his work on Boardwalk Empire. Van Patten’s long filmmaking career includes directing episodes of acclaimed series such as Rome, The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, and Black Mirror. The series is based on Stacy Schiff's 2005 book A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America.

Acclaimed Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas portrays the renowned American Founding Father, Benjamin Franklin.
