Following a tumultuous ordeal in London, serial killer Joe Goldberg finds himself on the brink of a new beginning, poised for a clean slate. Assisting him in this endeavor is his partner, Kate, who utilizes her recently inherited fortune to conceal his heinous acts. However, unbeknownst to both of them, one of Joe's victims has ingeniously outwitted him by orchestrating her own death. Marienne, thought to be dead, emerges from the shadows, determined to employ every means necessary to ensure that the serial killer faces the justice he deserves.
You season 5 is the upcoming fifth and final season of the psychological thriller TV series developed by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble for Netflix.
The series is based on Caroline Kepnes’ novel series and follows the life of Joe Goldberg, a seemingly ordinary man who works as a bookstore manager in the day and moonlights as an obsessive serial killer.
Following her run as showrunner for the first four seasons, Sera Gamble stepped down from her role to pursue other ventures. Leading the way for the final season as co-showrunners are long-standing executive producers Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo, who have been part of the series since its inception in season 1 and season 2, respectively. Gamble continues to contribute as an executive producer, maintaining her involvement in the series.
Michael Foley, Fina Girolamo and Lee Toland Krieger executive produce the series.
Penn Badgley reprises his role as Joe Goldberg for the final time in the fifth season. Charlotte Ritchie joins him as his present love interest Kate Galvin-Lockwood while Tati Gabrielle portrays former partner Marienne Bellamy. Madeline Brewer plays eccentric playwright Bronte.
Badgley previously teased the return of Jenna Ortega's character Ellie during a Netflix TUDUM event in Brazil in June 2023. Her character appears briefly while showing a video teasing the final season. Neither Ortega or Netflix has confirmed her return.
