Synopsis
Rescuing Hershel: Maggie and Negan's perilous journey through post-apocalyptic Manhattan
Maggie and Negan venture into the desolate remains of Manhattan which has been cut off from the outside world following an apocalyptic event. Their primary objective is to rescue Maggie's kidnapped son, Hershel. As they navigate the crumbling city, they encounter not only hordes of undead but also survivors who have forged their own dangerous and anarchic community within the urban chaos of New York City. This post-apocalyptic landscape is a realm where lawlessness reigns, danger lurks at every turn and moments of awe-inspiring beauty are juxtaposed with visceral terror.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 1 is the first season of AMC's post-apocalyptic horror-drama TV series from Eli Jorné. The Walking Dead: Dead City marks the fourth spin-off and fifth overall series in The Walking Dead franchise. It maintains continuity with the other TV shows and serves as the first official sequel to the original The Walking Dead series which was adapted from the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. Jorné, previously a producer and writer for the original series, takes on the role of executive producer. Jorné has also served as an executive producer on the sitcom Wilfred. The Walking Dead: Dead City consists of six episodes released weekly from June 18 to July 23, 2023. Alongside Jorné, stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan serve as executive producers, along with Brian Bockrath and Scott M. Gimple, the original showrunner for seasons 4-8 of The Walking Dead.
Lauren Cohan reprises her role as the valiant Maggie Greene, the widow of Glenn and former leader of the Hilltop community. Jeffrey Dean Morgan also resumes his captivating portrayal of Negan, a reformed individual who once commanded the ruthless Saviors. Gaius Charles stars as Perlie Armstrong, a dedicated family man motivated by love and loyalty. Željko Ivanek takes on the enigmatic character known as The Croat while Jonathan Higginbotham is Tommaso. Mahina Napoleon portrays Ginny and Trey Santiago-Hudson stars as Jano. Charlie Solis portrays The Bartender and Michael Anthony is Luther. Additionally, Alex Borlo, David Chen, Randy Gonzalez, Alex Huynh, Aixa Kendrick, Karina Ortiz, Caleb Reese Paul, Eleanor Reissa, and John Wu deliver impressive performances in the series. Logan Kim steps into the role of Maggie's son, Hershel, taking over from Kien Michael Spiller who originally portrayed the character in The Walking Dead.
