Mr. & Mrs. Smith season 1 is the first season of Amazon Prime Video's action-spy comedy TV series from Francesca Sloane and Donald Glover. It draws inspiration from the 2005 original directed by Simon Kinberg, featuring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as a married couple skillfully concealing the true essence of their professions from one another. Sloane has contributed her writing talents to acclaimed TV shows like The First and Fargo. Her collaboration extended to Glover's celebrated FX series, Atlanta, where she played a role in the team's Peabody Award for Entertainment triumph in 2023. Glover himself is a multifaceted talent, earning accolades as a writer, actor and musician. He is best known for his role in the sitcom Community and helming the Emmy Award-winning Atlanta. He's starred in several notable films such as The Martian and Solo: A Star Wars Story, and also voiced Simba in The Lion King remake. Additionally, under the stage name Childish Gambino, Glover has earned Grammy Award nominations for his musical endeavors.
Sloane and Glover also tackle the roles of executive producers for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, joining forces with a team that includes Yariv Milchan, Arnon Milchan, Jenny Robins, Michael Schaefer, Stephen Glover, Anthony Katagas, Nate Matteson and frequent Glover collaborator, Hiro Murai. Atlanta cinematographers Stephen Murphy and Christian Sprenger oversee the series' cinematography.
Glover portrays John Smith in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, starring alongside Maya Erskine in the role of Jane Smith. Erskine, known for her roles in Man Seeking Woman and Betas, co-created and starred in the Hulu dramedy series PEN15, where she played a fictionalized version of her 13-year-old self. The ensemble cast also features the talents of Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Coel, John Turturro and Paul Dano.
