Bird Box Barcelona is a post-apocalyptic horror film co-written and co-directed by Álex Pastor and David Pastor for Netflix. The duo previously co-wrote and co-directed the 2020 psychological horror film, The Occupant, also for Netflix. Bird Box Barcelona is a spin-off of the massively popular Netflix film which was released in 2018, however Bird Box Barcelona is not a direct sequel to it. The original film starring Sandra Bullock was an adaptation of the Josh Malerman novel of the same name. At the time of its initial release in 2018, Bird Box achieved a remarkable feat as the most successful opening week for a Netflix original film, captivating an estimated 45 million households during its debut week. Bird Box Barcelona features bilingual dialogue in both Spanish and English. The film is produced by Dylan Clark, Núria Valls, Adrián Guerra, Chris Morgan, Ryan Lewis and Josh Malerman.
Mario Casas and Naila Schuberth star as the lead father and daughter duo, Sebastián and Sophia, respectively. The supporting cast consists of Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Lola Dueñas, Patrick Criado, Gonzalo de Castro, Michelle Jenner, Leonardo Sbaraglia and Celia Freijeiro.
