Taylor Sheridan executive produces Western drama series, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, starring David Oyelowo
Lawmen: Bass Reeves is a Western drama television series on Paramount+. The series is created by Chad Feehan, with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan serving as an executive producer on the project. The series consists of eight episodes and is based on Sidney Thompson’s books ‘Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves’ and ‘Hell on the Border’. They are the first two books in Thompson’s ‘The Bass Reeves Trilogy’ series.
David Oyelowo executive produces and stars in the series as Bass Reeves. Dennis Quaid plays Deputy U.S. Marshal Sherill Lynn, with Forrest Goodluck as Cherokee man Billy Crow. Lauren E. Banks plays Bass’s wife Jennie, Barry Pepper is Esau Pierce, the 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles leader and Demi Singleton is Reeves’s daughter Sally. Grantham Coleman stars as Edwin Jones, a man with considerable influence, alongside Garrett Hedlund as Garrett Montgomery, a man hired by Bass for his expertise in the area. Acclaimed actor Donald Sutherland features in a recurring role as Judge Isaac Parker, an imposing figure in the community known as the ‘Hanging Judge’. Dale Dickey, Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley and Boardwalk Empire’s Shea Whigham round out the cast.
