Lawmen: Bass Reeves is a Western drama series on Paramount+, based on the true story of Bass Reeves. The series is created by the same creative and production team behind the hugely successful Yellowstone series. The team includes Taylor Sheridan, who serves as an executive producer on Lawmen: Bass Reeves. David Oyelowo also serves as an executive producer, in addition to starring in the series.
Oyelowo plays Bass Reeves, a U.S. federal peace officer based in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The notorious Reeves was born into slavery in 1838 but later gained his freedom and became one of the first Black U.S marshals. He is famous for capturing over 3,000 dangerous criminals without ever being injured. Dennis Quaid plays Deputy U.S. Marshal Sherill Lynn, with Forrest Goodluck as Cherokee man Billy Crow. Lauren E. Banks plays Bass’s wife Jennie, with Demi Singleton as his daughter Sally. Barry Pepper plays Esau Pierce, with Grantham Coleman as Edwin Jones. Acclaimed actor Donald Sutherland features in a recurring role as Judge Isaac Parker.
