Synopsis
Sheikh Mohammad rises up the ranks to head cleric of the local mosque
When prominent patriarch Sheikh Mohammad is elected head of the local mosque in Sydney’s western suburbs, a powerful Iraqi Australian family steps into a role of significant power. But Sheikh Mohammad’s rise to power is threatened by his son Isa’s differing beliefs for the community.

House of Gods is a drama on ABC TV and iview. The series is about a powerful Iraqi Australian family who’s patriarch becomes the head cleric of the local mosque. House of Gods is co-created by Osamah Sami and Shahin Shafaei, and is a semi-biographical story based on co-creator Sami’s life. Production on House of Gods took place in Australia and Turkey.
Osamah Sami (Ali’s Wedding) stars as Isa, a soft-spoken philosopher who aspires to create a new religious school that welcomes dance, music and women in leadership roles within the community. Palestinian actor Kamel El Basha co-stars as Sheikh Mohammad, the newly appointed head of the local mosque. Maia Abbas plays Batul, Priscilla Doueihy as Jamila, with Safia Arain, Simon Elrahi, Burhan Zangana, Wadih Dona, Abhilash Kaimal, Andrew Attieh, Adeeb Razzouk, Sair Alawadi, Alyssa Peters, Serag Mohamed and Azmi Al-Hasani.
