House of Gods is an Australian drama on ABC TV and iview. The show is co-created by Osamah Sami and Shahin Shafaei. They are joined by writers Blake Ayshford and Sarah Bassiuoni on the project. The series is produced by Matchbox Pictures’ Sheila Jayadev, who worked with Sami on Ali’s Wedding.
Osamah Sami plays Isa, a soft-spoken philosopher who aspires to create a new religious school that welcomes dance, music and women in leadership roles within the community. Isa is the adopted son of Sheikh Mohammad (played by Kamel El Basha), who is newly appointed as head of the local mosque. Maia Abbas plays Batul, Priscilla Doueihy as Jamila, with Safia Arain, Simon Elrahi and Burhan Zangana as Hajj Sajjad. Wadih Dona as Abu Hany, Abhilash Kaimal as Dr. Jay, Andrew Attieh as Nadir, Adeeb Razzouk as Zouhair, Sair Alawadi as Bilal, Alyssa Peters as Fatima, Serag Mohamed as Coach Jabbar and Azmi Al-Hasani as Aqil.
